Hey...
I was just wondering is Puni Puni a series or a one-off thing?

Uh, here's a short answer. Puni Puni Poemi is a 2 episode OVA. I don't think there's plans for future episodes.

Puni Puni Poemi is the OVA of the Excel Saga serie.
There wont be any other episodes than the 2 OVAs.

Uh, no. Just because it was written by Watanabe doesn't mean its Excel Saga's OVAs. It is just a side project.

Actually at the end of Excel Saga you witness a fight 2 characters (i dont want to spoil) and in Puni Puni Poemi you know who won. I know it is very different from the serie but many people concider it as an OVA.

Even in some sites were you can buy the DVD they address this DVD as the OVA of the box set.

Throughout the Excel Saga Poni Poni Poemi is referenced as a series that is being created. You see sketches and hear some of the formative meetings with the creators, but it is little more than a side plot device (in a series that had very little plot I may add

). The two episode OVA was released because people wanted to see what it was about (or could be about) if it was really released.

I am a big fan of the Excel Saga and was surprised and happy to hear of the creation of this show (mostly because of my love for Nabishin), but I don't think that there will be any more to be seen from Poemi.

The question is, how much more could they get away with? They kind of did a no holds barred, anything goes anime that could get them sued to hell in America.

And, yes, I thought it was great.
