I'm glad that anime's becoming more popular, I just hope that the more mainstream audiences like it for the same reasons we do, not just because it's whats "in."

Well, like sombody said, sadly, thats not going to happen. People do crap like that all the time to fit in or to look cool or what ever you what to call it. thats how fads are. The first time I see a prep at my school reading manga, I will take AmazonMandys adivce, and take a dagger to my chest. Simple. I hope anime wont get so popular like skateboarding has. Its cool seeing it around and everything, but its the people I dont want geting into it for the wrong reason of if they dont understand it. That not how the world is spost to work!

What you need to realize is that most american shows, especially reality shows, are utter crap. Anime is looked down upon because the only animtion they can think of are crappy american shows. People are too stupid too realize the deep meaning that anime has.

The more popular anime becomes, the more will get made. Yes, the majority of it will be crap, but you will have more gems too. The trouble for us will be finding the gems.

We are already seeing the media blitzes hyping shows that really are not worth the time to spend watching them. Studios and distributers will push series that go for the lowest common denominator because there is more money to be made that way. Is there any good news in that? Yes, while these shows will be crap, they will generate the money necessary to fund more quality programing.

This is roughly analagous to the Hollywood blockbuster making enough money for the studio to fund smaller independant films.
