ONE PIECE ROX!!

It doesn't seem even close to as popular as Naruto here though.

Both are awesome, it just seems that one became popular and the other one didn't. One Piece is still popular mind you, it's just that the gap between the two is too large for my taste.

I think the mass popularity of Naruto here in the states has been pretty obvious. To think that someone hasn't picked it up yet amazes me. In my mind, if the series had been released in the states, DVD sales would rival that of Inu Yasha. And then when Cartoon Network picks it up, then sales will pick up even more. Personally, I wouldn't rush out to get the whole series once it hit shelves, but I'd definitely get volume one or the Zabuza arc at least. I think Anime Insider put it best when they sent a message to the U.S. distribution companies. "Come on guys! This series guaranties money to print!"
Probably too busy to be here right now.

I think this is exactly the reason it has NOT been licensed yet. The Japanese owners know darn well how much that license is worth, and they have every intention of getting as much of that "money to print" as they possibly can out of the deal. And no doubt, the investment might end up being a very big one for whoever does eventually license it.

I think Naruto has already been licenced in Chinese, and it's not a bootleg. I have free to air satelite, and on Xing Kong Wei Shi (www.xingkong.com.cn), they aired Naruto (chinese dub and sub) upt to around episode 100+.

Every time I see this thread, I can't help thinking...

"Na-ru-to-o in the U-S-A!

Na-ru-to-o in the U-S-A, y-y-yeah
Rockin' in the U.S.A.!"
