Beck is indeed an awesome show, the music for the show is pretty good. I doubt it will come to the states--it is one of those shows that seems to cater to a specific taste though it is much better. Check it out if you get a chance.

Essentially it is about a Japanese band and the friendships, etc. relationships that this one kid has within the band and how it propels him.

I dunno about that, Funimation has already shown interest in it.

I think it will be really odd for them to do a dub version, mainly because of the emphasis on when ppl speak english or japanese on the show.

That would be great if, instead of Engrish, they have horribly mispronounced Japanese.

When I first stumbled across the manga I was slightly heartbroken that it wasn't about Beck (Hansen). I mean, he's reasonably popular in Japan, he's got a couple Japan-only singles, not to mention Stray Blues, a Japanese B-side compilation. I've dropped thousands of dollars on silly Beck products. It's absurd.

So to relate back to the anime, I guess I haven't watched it (or read the manga) as some kind of dull-witted revenge for having gotten my hopes up for that Beck Hansen manga. I've heard it's good (from you and from my brother).

Maybe when they dub it, they'll replace the songs with Beck (Hansen) songs. That would be ironic but still a very bad idea. :D

And I'm still waiting for a decently accurate manga about growing up the only white kid in the Hispanic neighborhood of LA with a mom who hung out with the Velvet Underground and a grandfather who was a founding member of Fluxus... but I'm not holding my breath.

oh yea, instead of the dog in the anime, have a headless see-saw horse covered in silver paint and cigarrette butts.
what's on Stray Blues? does it have both versions of Electric Music and the Summer People?

and i would love to see the opening theme set to "Devil's Haircut"
that and see some of his artwork on the manga covers
