Here're a list of some of my favorites and why, just to make this a thread with a point.

Love Hina: (Best Manga U.S. Release (2002)) This is huge on my list. If you liked the anime, then this is a must see for you! It is about an ordianry high-school graduate trying to get into Tokyo U. He becomes the landlord of a girls dorm somehow, and at first, the tenents regret it. Love hina is a romance/comedy.

sorry, said submited too early...

Demon Diary: This is an excelent Manhwa if you're into fantasy. The main Character Raenef is a character completely out of place with his title of Demon Lord. He is nice, forgiving, and goes into "sparkle-mode" at the drop of a hat. All of which annoys Eclipse, his teacher, at first, but he just can't explain why he liuke Raenef so much. Later cast includes a Mercenary/Swordmaster, and a Monk. all of whom end up living with Raenef. While this is a great story, it changes writers on the second book, so don't feel too disapointed when the prolouge goes unexplained.

Siyuki: the retelling of Xi You Gi (Journey to the West), this is the story of Son Goku, Sha Gojyo, Cho Hakkai, and Genjo Sanzo. They were appointed by the "Goddess" of Mercy to retreive a stolen Sutra, and stop the ressurection of Gyumaoh. One of the problems, is that they don't exactly get along perfectly. Priest Sanzo will get pissed and shoot at Goku and Gojyo, ect... I recomend this, but you'll have to wait,Tokyopop hasn't released all of them yet.

I'll bring more later (probably)

OBJECTIVITY

Honestly, what kind of question is that? Aren't we old enough to know that there aren't "best evar!" things in art and/or entertainment?

What kind of stuff are you into? If you're looking for suggestions, your general taste will help others give you a good tip.

Myself, I would say no manga comes even close to the sheer joy, terror and aesthetic satisfaction than Naoki Urasawa's "Monster". But would I say everyone will absolutely like it? No.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I am a fan of the alternate retelling of Neon Genesis Evangelion. I think it does a better job of answering certain unanswered questions to the series, particularly
who killed Kaji and his back story.
I also like the Revolutionary Girl Utena manga since it does a little into the background as to how Utena came to Ohtori Acedemy.

The Azumanga Diaoh Manga is really more of a collection of strips that the series was based off of. It is like reading Calvin and Hobbes again. :P
If it can't be expressed in numbers or figures, it is an opinion - Robert Heinlein

Anything by CLAMP is good.

While I'm a fan of CardCaptor Sakura, they have also created Chobits, X/1999, Wish, Clover, and recently XXXHolic and Tsubasa ResiVOIR Chronicle.

True (y) I personally like the new .hack series, although it's only 3 manga... oh well...

I don't think there is a 'best evah'.
it really matters what you like: action, fun, horror, tentacle hentai...

Some good ones are:

Love Hina (the manga is alot more better in both story and developement than the anime)
Naruto (everyone likes this one...well most everyone)
FLCL (lquirky drawing style)
Evangelion (the manga at times, does better explaining the story)
Rurouni Kenshin (the art in this is brilliant snf beautiful)
Negima (alot like Love Hina but then again not...put Love Hina and Harry Potter and you get this)
Hellsing (like this better than the anime)
Trigun and Trigun Maximum (still good but I prefer the anime. It's alot more gorier and bloodier than the anime...alllooottt more.)
She Said, "Don't Make Others Suffer For Your Personal Hatred."
