x2. If you rarely get time like this to chit-chat, as you so put it, you're NEVER going to get time to learn Japanese.Malificus wrote:Simple answer. Here's my week. 27 hours: work. 14 credit hours (2 3 hour classes and 2 hour and a half classes over 4 days): school. dungeons and dragons: one night a week. girlfriend: another day of the week. That leaves me with roughly 1/2 a day a week I can do stuff on my own time. Since my college doesn't offer Japanese, I either need to spend the cash and get some good learning tools or I need to transfer (I planned on doing this thanks to my major) and take one there.dokool wrote:x2. So, I don't wanna hear anything about not having any time. I know some others who are behind me when saying that too. I have to take days off of work just to get a day or 2 off. I barely even have time to study as well.

What does living in New York have to do with anything?Gogetasan85 wrote:
Thanks people you helped me alot but i live in new york.as a graduation gift my mother is sending me to japan.so im trying to look for a quick way to learn.i tryed to learn from watching anime with subs but there is so much that can do but thanks for the help.
You aren't going to learn Japanese quickly. Don't bother. Cramming useless phrases won't help. Watching infinite amounts of anime won't help (anyone who says they learned Japanese from anime is either a liar or watched anime in addition to taking classes).
If you want to go to Japan that badly, maybe you should wait a year or two until you've had a chance to take some classes. I assure you that it's not sinking into the ocean or anything like that, but knowing a basic amount of Japanese (and knowing the basics well - for example, being able to pronounce words correctly, something people in my class still have problems with) makes all the difference.
The amount of enjoyment anyone gets out of Japan is directly proportionate to how much Japanese they know.
