Dragon Knights- manga, not the creepy anime

Post by inuhikarifan » Fri Apr 08, 2005 9:39 pm

When I posted "what is the best manga ever?!" forum, I got a few answers of Dragon Knights. I was a little surprised since the first one that I bought wasn't that good. I found the humor cheesy and childish, the plot non-exsistent, and the characters too flat. Yet I have read reviews of later manga and apparently it gets really good and turns into a full epic. And people who said Dragon Knights rocked also mentioned some of my other favorites. What's the deal? Does Dragon Knights get really good after a certain installment? Please tell me if it does, or I might miss out on something really good!

I read up to volume 15 and couldn't get into it. I found most of it rather boring with a few exceptions here and there.
Exceptions wrote:1. When Rath gets posessed by Nadil and cuts his head off.
2. When Kai Stern and Alfegi die.
3. Gil enters the story
I felt that the plot moved rather slow. But that's just me.

It really depends on your own personal preferences. You either like it, or you don't.

I personally love this manga. I was originally interested in it when I heard that Megumi Ogata did the voice for one of the characters in the drama albums. The artwork changes a lot, but it's always pretty. Same goes for the story - it get's better.

...but keep in mind that this is a fangirl's opinion

Yeah. I'm hooked; I actually almost threw a fit in WaldenBooks when I found out they didn't have volume 10. My mom got me the first five for xmas, and I was like 'Ooookay...' And I didn't really like it much at first, but I gradually got into it. Now I have up to 14, and I'm dying to read the rest. Unfortunately, only the first 17 are available in English...
Just give it another chance. Yes, it starts out immature, but it does get better. There will probably always be humor, but the storyline gets really serious about book 7. Who knows? You might dind you actually like it.
I've done it! I've invented a way to repair the ozone! Now I just have to figure out what my name is so I can get credit for it!

I love this manga. Though I only have the first 6 I still want more. I kind of have to save my money for others things. So I haven't been able to buy any recently.

Okay...I gave it another chance, and boy, am I glad I did! It gets so much better in the second one! It actually has a story, and a very complicated one at that. I love this manga now!
