You'll probably like Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (and the first movie, but start with the TV series).

If I were to recommend fantasy anime, I would say Record of Lodoss War OVA for a classic high fantasy of swords and sorcery. Bastard!!, for a lighter take on fantasy (with more metal references than you can shake a stick at). Escaflowne was good, but the romance swamped the plot to the point of derailing the series.

Inuyasha, a must see anime and a must read manga, my personal favorite, watch it! Remain watching Cowboy Bebop, for it is also good. R.O.D, Read or Die, is ok and funny, maybe not ust see. Chobits, gets annoying, but i do like it. Yu Yu Hakusho, is good fighting fun with demons and awesome twists. Trigun, is an awesome anime and a good read. Wolf's Rain, was great but to short for my taste. Shoping Arcade Aminaboshi (Sp?) is funny stuff. Dragonball Z is good if yur into fighting stuff and some fun. Tenchi Muyo is great and funny, truly a "must see". Full Metal Alchemist, many words to describe such a great anime, watch it! Slayers, is all in good fun with great fighting scenes. Gungrave is some good stuff. Gad Guard, was just ok. .Hack is just ok as well, sometimes annoying. Now, to my point. Stop with Eva!

Yeah, but it's centered around a high school girl going off into a world. OF COURSE she'd start to fall in love with some guys. It's only natural. And without the romance, then the whole entire spoiler filled later episodes just wouldn't have happened.

I don't think the romance swamped it- on the contrary, I think it really seemed to make a lot of strong characters. Because Escaflowne acknowlegded that along with fantasy, sword play, wars, and other such things, romance is just as natural to the plot as everything else.

Ah! Please know that I'm not being spiteful or rude or anything, just giving my opinion about Esca.

Fools NGE is by far one of the greatest anime series ever. Note i did not say THE GREATEST beacuse you can't put that titke on anyone anime. I have noticed most people how dislike the series have mainly seen dubbed CN titles and *cough*hentai*cough* but there are many great series out there you best chocie would be to ask what not too watch. Of course then again than can start a rant like this one.

i agree with the people who said full metal alchemist and full metal panic i absolutely loved the second season of FMP (which is fmp fumoffu), then,

Has anyone said Hellsing yet? Its a good one if you're into the whole vampire slaying, horror stuff. I think everyone else has covered all my other favourites.

i would advise u to watch ranma definately, tsubasa, one piece, shaman king, and yu yu hakusho those are great animes u'll get so hooked u wont go to sleep.

Must Sees:

RahXephon
Last Exile - exceptional, great characters and story, beautiful animation
Hellsing - lots of fun. too bad they stopped at 13 episodes and left too many open ends
Wolf's Rain - very good, but the end is rather depressing
FLCL - F'ing hysterical, unforgetable
R.O.D. - OVA and series
Noir
Cowboy Bebop - as if anyone didn't know about this one
Trigun
Ghost in the Shell (both movies) - very, very well done, interesting.

Currently watching:
Samurai Champloo - love it so far! very fun and unique
Chrono Crusade - pretty good so far (thru ep 8), a couple of the characters are a little annoying sometimes
Ghost in the Shell TV series - excellent

Interesting, but not exceptional:
Nadjica Blitz Tactics - panty shots galore!, but also kind of a fun show
Excel Saga - crazy, some of the humor doesn't translate into our culture
Key the Metal Idol
.hack - has some very boring moments
