Everything from the two disc Trunks saga up through GT is available uncut dvd japanese/english already. Are they remastering them or is this just the first time boxing the sets up?
I didn't know the Vegeta arc wasn't available uncut. I only have one dvd from that arc (Death of a Prince) and it was definitely uncut with Japanese/English audio. Did they just release a few random dvds from that arc?
Seems like old news. I thought the Android Saga was the one we were waiting to see on Japanese dvd, but Netflix has it all available...
Am I behind in the DBZ gossip...?

so let me guess this straight, there redoing the entire DBZ series completly uncut, ok i can see the violence and stuff, but i hear its gonna air on CN, so how will they show the ogre's shirt with HELL on it. and when they say "ultimate uncut version" does that even include all the cursing, nudity and graphic violence they wouldnt even show before.
Life is but a dream.....So what happens when you wake up?

Yes... Yes... Yes... and YES!
And the Death of a Prince DVD you got is AFTER Goku arrives and lays a beat down on Namek, so that was when Funimation took over completely and started the Uncut releases.
I can tell there's some confusion so here goes:
A long long time ago, in a syndicated galaxy far far away...
Dragon Ball Z was being released on syndication to TV channels across the country. Being syndicated as an unknown show, most were forced to watch it at 6:30 in the morning OR EARLIER on Sundays! Previously, Dragon Ball had been picked up by Funimation and released in syndication along with other Funimation pieces of work in association with Kidmark.
Why is this important? On the early release of the first DB movie (Curse of the Blood Rubies) VHS, there was a BLINKY BILL trailer before the movie. That's because Kidmark was in charge of releasing the Dragon Ball episodes on VHS, and they were a LITTLE kids show producer! Think about that!
Alright, so the first two seasons of DBZ were aired on syndication before being canned. Of course, when it came to Cartoon Network, it finally got the ratings it deserved and showed all those network bastards that WE LIKE ANIME ON TV! It got so popular that Funimation got enough backing to buy the rights to the rest of the episodes and release them en masse. They have now released EVERYTHING from Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball GT on TV! Hundreds of episodes over the course of about a DECADE! It took THAT long to get this far!
Now back in the old days when DBZ came to Cartoon Network, Pioneer (of Tenchi Muyo fame) was releasing the TV episodes on VHS. Now since Kidmark helped produce it, they did NOT have the rights to release the subbed versions. Except for the first three DBZ movies. Those were released in dubbed and subbed versions because Funimation and Pioneer negotiated the rights for that.
Now, years have gone by and Kidmark has lost ALL rights to any Dragon Ball franchise whatsoever (if the company still exists). So, to make up for previous lacks of subs and uncut versions, Funimation is releasing EVERYTHING completely uncut and in subbed versions.
For the fans!
Hope that helps.

I am somewhat confused by the pricing. I have looked at many box sets/sagas and I have never see them priced below sixty dollars each. The DVD's seperately cost at least thirty dollars each. Of course I guess that you COULD find a saga for this price on ebay, but I am not so sure. Newly released stuff is expensive no matter where you go.

Err... clarification...
In North America, KidMark solely had the home distribution rights to DB episodes 1-13 and DB movie 1. They still own these rights. No-one knows when this sub-contract expires. FUNimation reps are as clueless as we are. In Australia, Madman has released FUNimation's re-dub of episodes 1-13 (along with the Japanese audio track), since KidMark's got nothing to do with Australia.
In North America, Pioneer solely had the home distribution rights to DBZ episodes 1-67 (1-53 in the edited dub), and DBZ movies 1-3. This sub-contract expired 31 August 2003. This is why FUNimation can now re-release the episodes with their own new "uncut" English dub and a Japanese track.
As noted, FUNimation is *not* re-releasing the entire series under the "Ultimate Uncut" line; the rest of the series already has an uncut release on bilingual DVD (other than what's noted above).
Blah blah blah, review + images + more information, blah blah blah:

Again, the rest of the series already got a proper uncut release on DVD with both FUNimation's "uncut" English dub and the original Japanese track.
These episodes previously had no such releases, which is why they're getting them now.

I learned aobut this a month or tow ago when I bought Dragonball Z sagas and saw it being promote din the back of the book.Ultimate uncut must mean no editing at all which also hopefully means there gonna redo what they say.I would love that Becuase I hate how Vegeta's asks Goku to join him in the English version whenhe never doe sin the Japanese version.Arigatomina wrote:Everything from the two disc Trunks saga up through GT is available uncut dvd japanese/english already.
