Ever read a review of an anime where the reviewer sounded like they've totoaly missed the point of the damn thing and feel like they need a good dose of hard blunt things to the head? Oh and, I know this thread could go angsty and violent with clashing opinions but it could also bring up some good conversation.
I havent seen this anime but complaining that such a dark anime has "ugly" characters is something I'd expect from someone who's seen little besides pokemon. Imagine how stupid the atmosphere would feel if the characters well all cute and pretty.themanime.org - Le portrait de Petit Cossette wrote:Before we get to the review, I have one major gripe about the show - the character design for Cossette is ugly! Maybe gothic shows are just not for me, but how else would you describe inconsistent character designs? At certain angles, she is tolerable, but most of the time, she is plain scary.
I agree with the point in question, but judging an anime for having theme's related to lolita's is unfair. Its the same as judging a war movie for having grotesq violence. If it showed real life young characters in real situations ok that may be a reason for concern. But as an insignificant theme, it shouldnt serve as a basis to judge the show.themanime.org - Le portrait de Petit Cossette wrote:The crazed artist must be suffering (other than insanity) from a Lolita complex. I mean, Cossette is barely twelve years old from the looks of it, and they are in love?! Give me a break. Folks, I apologize, but I do NOT like characters that go after minors, for whatever reason. It's just plain wrong.
