Princess Tutu: What the heck is goin' on?!

Post by Tainted_Eden » Sat May 21, 2005 11:41 pm

Oki, this is another discussion type thread, so no 'OHM! I LOVE PRINCESS TUTU!' or 'It sux, DIE!' or 'WTF?!' Anyone who has seen this series is more than welcome to discuss about it, anyone who is interested (and probably won't mind a spoiler or two) can watch and even be part of the discussion.

Now, I don't know a lot about the series myself, only seen up to episode 9. @_@ BUT, I really wanna talk about what exactly is the show. Is the town nothing more but Drosselmeyer's private world? Or was it already a town, turned into a story when the prince and the raven escaped the book?

Also, what exactly IS Fakir to Mytho?! This is the one that's been bothering me. At times, he seems like a lover, other times a protective brother. After seeing later episodes, it seems that he's more of a protector, like a knight or so. Any thoughts or ideas?

So far I only have one DVD of Princess Tutu, but it's really good.
I really can't answer your first question since I have no clue. I'm guessing it's an ordinary town where the prince and the raven escaped to. I think Fakir is like a guardian of Mytho, and what is the relationship between Fakir and Rue?

I have another opinion! It's been awhile since I've seen the series, but isn't Rue and Fakir shocked to see Mytho showing feelings? They might be against Princess Tutu.

Spoiler time! Nothing too major, in my opinion.
spoiler wrote:The show is a fairy tale. Everything you see, including Drosselmeyer, is essentially part of the fairy tale. The confusion is that the tale contains many other fairy tales and stories itself- and that Drosselymeyer has little regard for the fourth wall. Ultimately, if you treat the series as a fairy tale about stories, then you'll have a good impression of it.

Fakir and Rue have no special relation outside of their connections to Mytho, and to the story force that drives all the events of the town.

And a bigger spoiler on Fakir's role in all of this:
spoiler wrote:Fakir is the knight of the tale. His duty is to protect Mytho from himself, and everyone from the raven. His role is not one he is entirely satisfied with, but one he carries out as best he can (a recurring theme in the show). Wait and watch for the full story!
