Chrno Crusade is good, very religious but awesome story
I loved Elfen Lied, not good if you don't like blood/guts/gore etc.
FLCL rocks:)
Millenium Actress was an awesome movie.
-Are children who act in rated 'R' movies allowed to see them?
-Do they have girl’s bathrooms in gay bars?

I think you missed the point with this one. It's supposed to be about the daily happenings of a group of school girls. It doesn't have a lot of blatant hummor and very little action, but it is very comical and worth watching. As long as you keep the other stuff in mind.

What I don't understand is how Azumanga Diaoh can seem random but FLCL didn't. I had to watch FLCL 4 times befor I figured out what was going on.

I'm reentering this thread to second Ultra Maniac, and suggest Marmalade Boy under the same banner. Handsome Girl is out in OVA form too. I'd also suggest picking up her manga. I have most of it. I am especially fond of Mint Na Bokura. I wish that would be animated. |:

I'm a pretty hardcore Wataru Yoshizumi fanboy and understandably biased.

Escaflowne - looks good, but isnt this also a robot anime?
Yes... it is... well, in a way. It's about 1/4 robots... 1/4 angels... 1/4 romance... and 1/4 divination(fortune telling/visions). You could check out my vid if you want, but it's missing the fortune telling and angels part. But, of all the shows I reccommended... i believe that Ayashi No Ceres is you're best bet for an all-around good show. ^^

I would have to say....

Chobits
FullMetal Alchemist
Sonic X
Trigun
One Piece (probably not the 4Kids version)
Tokyo Mew Mew (NOT 4Kids version)
D.C Dacapo
Inuyasha
Rave Master
Shama King (uncut)

But definatly consider Trigun and FMA
