gantz, watched it yet?

i just finished the series gantz. what a crazy ride! you got to check this one out. 26 episodes. i was hooked from the begining. the first episode was kinda shocking, and it got even crazier. this ones not for everyone, but i enjoyed it. have you watched it yet? what did you think?

Yeah!! Gantz is the shit!! I saw 4 episodes over my friends house and got hooked to it. So hooked, I bought the first 3 DVD's the next day and got about 5 of my friends hooked to it by letting them borrow the DVD's.

This show is so surprising and crazy. Already one of my favorites right beside Bleach, GTO, and Full Metal Alchemist.

Does anyone know what episode Anime Network is up to now with it? "wish I had it"

Gantz is one of those shows where the main chracter pisses me off to no end! Sure, the story has lots of potential, and the concept is pretty clever but.... the main character... he's all:

Oh.... my friend is getting killed by an alien, maybe I should stick to my 'violence is bad' philosophy till he gets killed then fight, or run away.

Oh, some chick is getting raped in the next room.... maybe I should stay away, it's not really my problem.

Hey, I've got a super suit that makes me a bad ass, how about I say, fuck the 'violence is bad' plan for a while. Too bad I didn't bother to help the ONE person who seemed to think that stopping bullies was a good idea.

Oh, wait, here is a chick who is OBVIOUSLY in a bad spot, all depresed and shit, now homeless. Maybe I'll get laid.

Basically, anytime there is something happening to him, he's all "why me, this sucks" and when shit happens to someone else he's like.. it's not my problem.

Essentially, if you ever DIE and wind up in a room full of guns and super suits... go with the flow I say.

Oh, and always pull the trigger. Just pull the goddamn trigger. Cry about it later, but, for the love of God, just kill the damn alien instead of whining in front of it for an entire episode.

I love the concept, but some of the characters are a bit over the top. There is enough mystery to still have me wonder. Why recruit dead people to kill off aliens? If it is a government project would it not be better to used trained persons?

anime network is showing gantz, but i watched it on there and all the good scenes are edited. kinda loses its edge when you cut out the blood and violence. its a big part of the story. so check out the uncut version. i liked in in japenese better too.

From what I've heard its just a load of gory violence and a crap, half arsed attempt at a story which takes a few notes from Battle Royal. I'l watch it, and mabey enjoy it. But I aint paying for it.

The concept of throwing a cross section of characters from society into a strange life or death struggle situation and having them learn what is going on as well as the rules of their new world is not a new one. In that regard, Gantz has a Night of the Living Dead feel to it. Who will rise to the occasion? Who will destroy themselves and others? Speaking of all that, when is there going to be a good anime with zombies in it?
