Although I didn't like G Gundam, remember, G Gundam came BEFORE Gundam Wing (My vote as 2nd best Gundam series), so actually most of the character designs in Wing were taken from G, not the other way around.

G Gundam wasn't a rip-off so much as:
a) The first experimental steps into the realm of the alternate universe (everything up to that point had been UC)
and
b) A director doing the best he could with the tools he was dealt (Imagawa first went to Bandai with a pitch for a war story...Bandai turned him down, handed him a bunch of outlandish Gundam designs and told him 'Make us a show with these'...so, he did... of course, he did it his way (which, compared to what Bandai wanted, was a lot better (the execs at Bandai wanted JUST the Gundam fight, no more, no less...Imagawa had to push to get the Devil Gundam storyline in there.))
Frankly, under the circumstances, I think he did rather well...
...as for SD Gundam...that all depends which SD you look at
The original 'Super Deformed' OVAs from the late 80s/early 90s. Those were just some fun parody of the UC material (...a bit esoteric, but hey)
Superior Defender, however...I wouldn't call it rip off so much as a major disappointment
