Why do you think Dragonball z is so popular?

DBZ is popular cause the fighting scenes, powerups, Super-Saiyan transformations are spectacular to watch. I also like the American dubbed soundtrack for DBZ. It really pumps you up and gets you motivated.

yea, and not to mention that dbz is the single most succesful anime to date, hate it, or love it.....no arguing about that though.

DBZ's popular because of one simple thing:

It's Pro Wrestling with bigger explosions.

The storyline's semi-soap-operatic, and the fight scenes are just non-stop explosions and martial arts. DBZ, while nowhere near mentally stimulating, is still good for just mindless action entertainment.

It's best not to discuss DBZ's popularity. People are just gonna screw your thread over with stupid posts and try to refer you to other anime that they think is more enjoyable watch. DBZ is popular because people like it. Nuff' said.

Characters fighting in the air has never been done better in any anime. I use to hate it, but then I was flippin' through the channels and ran into vegeta and goku fighting, destroying boulders the size of buildings and I never seen anything like it. Even now, what in the hell can beat DBZ in aerial fight scenes? That's what I thought, you can't think of any.

And the way they fight using every part of there body in the air seems so natural, and isn't as cheep as other attempts I've seen to make characters fight in the air, like the matrix.

I have to admit it was big in Japan as well... 15 years ago, when it was new.
