I don't even know your father, but from your description he seems fun to stay with .

Actually, I'm raising a fangirl. My wife's daughter (now 12) came to live with us last year and her only previous experience with anime was televised Sailor Moon and Pokemon. She sometimes thinks she's stepped into an alternate universe when I show her the episodes as they were originally meant to be seen. (Although she doesn't have much patience for subs, she prefer's dubs. )
>I'm< the one explaining some of the subtle nuances and in-jokes. She has a blast when I'm working on a new AMV and has been nagging me all summer as to when we are going to another convention after Ohayocon in January was her first. (May be going to Sugoicon in covington at the end of October.)

^-^ Thankies.
He is a pretty fun dad. Kitsunebeolnet, you sound like a pretty cool dad, too. Subs are tough sometimes, having to read and watch at the same time. It's a skill and I'm sure your daughter will learn to apreciate it, eventually.

I was visiting my #2 daughter the other day and she had this to add to this thread. "What are our children going to think of us, when they grow up and we are anime fans?" Could be interesting, what will the next generation think of your interests? I Know I thought some of my parents favorites were dull or wierd, like Laurence Welk or the Jack Benny show. Man does that date me, you are probably to young to even know what those shows are.
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?

Actually, those names sound familiar. Probably because my Dad harkens back to the fifties. (Man, that dates him. But I'm still only in my early twenties. )

Lawrence Welk wasn't very big in our house, it was Hee Haw for us. (Even though we wern't big country fans either...we liked the comedy.)
Now Jack Benny... I remember his last broadcast special just before his death. And we taped every show we could off public broadcasting in the early 80's. I had (and ought to buy again) a cd collection off Ebay that had about 20 or so hours of his old radio shows.
Anybody remember the Warner Bros. cartoon that actually had him and the gang (Mary. Don, Rochester and even the maxwell) in it?
