I'm gonna have to say that personally, I thought it was an EXCELLENT movie. But that was because I played and beat the game without just rushing through it. The animation and character designs were superb, and the story itself wasn't half bad either...well...that's just what I thought.

I am warning you though, there is a possibility you might not like it.

Why? Well, on other forums, a lot of stupid people complain about how it doesn't show much of their "favorite" characters.

I'll tell you now, and I hope this isn't a spoiler, it focuses mostly around Cloud, Tifa, the Turks and the new villains, as well as Aeris and Sephiroth. Not much at all is seen of Yuffie, Barret, Cid, or Cait Sith with Vincent possibly getting the most show time of any of them.

That doesn't automatically means it sucks. The game was more focused around Cloud and Tifa, so personally, I didn't see why the movie shouldn't either. I guess it's all a matter of opinion.

Take my advice, watch it. If you don't like it, just resell it or use it for AMVs. :o

Yeah, you figure out it couldn't be a new Weapon because it came out of the materia.

...But that's another story.

Maybe because that part of the movie was the part where everyone pitches in and shows teamwork. And also, you should have noticed that the laws of physics were broken during the entire move. If Cloud could fly, then a lot of stuff that happened in the movie wouldn't have happened like the motorcycle chase scenes, possibly the fight in the forest, ect...

And if they DID pay attention to the laws of gravity the entire time, then it wouldn't really be very Final Fantasy-ish.

That's just my thoughts on it, though.

Actually, I thought that the dragon summoned looked kind of like Ruby Dragon. >> But I dunno, I never got to finish the game. -_-

ANYWAY, just wanted to say that Loz freaked me out, Kadaj was so freakin' beautifully creepy, and the cell phone gags had to be the best. I agree with people on the church scene- FUNNY.

But Vincent... HOT. I hate being a fangirl, but KYAAAH!!

You mean like how Cloud would never even being able to lift his sword let alone swing it around with one arm?

I definitely had a problem with this movie. The action scenes were sweet so was the overall visual of the movie. I really had a problem with the very little reflection of the past and brining in new characters like Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo and not explaining who they were. It just didn't seem like they were trying to remeber anything and you had to play the game(I have of course) to understand background info on the characters because barret, red, cid, yuffie, and cait sith really had very little dialouge. It also bothered me that they didnt once mention that they saved the world it was almost like there whole quest before AC was not important which all goes back to background info. I just thought the overall story line lacked depth of plot compared to the predescesing game. It is a definite watch for FFVII though how can you honelstly pass up a movie on the most famous FF game.

This movie was AWSOME!!!! My favorite part was the fight between Tifa and that guy in the church (sorry, only saw it through my work cause my manager brought it in but i couldnt read the subtitles and havent beaten the game YET). And about the thing you said Xenocide, the whole point of a sequel is that you should already know the backstory. They arent going to show every little bit (or anything sometimes) cause it is a sequel, you should already know what has happened.

I'm so excited. Should be getting my copy of the movie tomorrow.
I've been gone for around 2 years and will be making a come back.

That's all fine and dandy, but they dont even tell us if the dragon/summon they are fighting is Bahmaut or Ultima weapon, I've even heard guesses at Ruby weapon. It also would have been nice too at least know a little bit of background on sephiroths brotheres Yazoo, Loz, and Kadaj. I just think it would have given the story more depth. Don't get me wrong though I really liked the fight scenes and animation, I just really didn't see most of the characters personalities come out. This is more of an action movie which I'm totally fine with because I realize to have a complex story line like the game would take forever. Oh yeah and it is Loz who fights Tifa at the church

Actually, the whole beginning narration was about how they saved the world in FF7... remember the part where Marlene narrates about Shinra and Sephiroth, and everything Avalanche had to do to stop him?

I too wish that they had explained a little bit more about the origin of the brothers- all we know is that they are the remnants of Sephiroth's body, but it's not said how those remains BECAME three separate individuals. It probably would have added a little more depth, but ultimately I guess SE wanted to focus on Cloud... perhaps they just thought the origins of the brothers were unimportant. You're right; it's primarily an action movie, and the rest of the plot is about Cloud, then Tifa and Kadaj. This is why it didn't bother me that the other characters got so little screentime. The story wasn't about them. It may have been nice to include them a little more, but it wasn't really necessary. At least Vincent and Yuffie will get more screen time in Dirge of Cerberus, and hopefully Aerith will get a little in Crisis Core.

Although I wouldn't have known the dragon's specific name from the movie, it was obviously a summon, as we are shown Kadaj using the materia, and later wondering what else he should summon.
