In my oppinion, the show gets better as it goes along. I wasn't massively impressed by the first episode, but I was hooked by ep.30. The storyline really starts to progress and, as new characters are added, it gets more interesting. The art and running of the anime improve too, both the lineart and actually animation are smoother.
From what I saw on the internet, Naruto didn't immediately appeal to me either, but when a friend recommended it and leant it to me, I watched it. And, like I said, by episode 30 I was completely addicted.
I'd say its worth it.

Bah, I think I'll just read the manga, and screw the show. I really hate Naruto's voice, both English and Japanese. BLAH.
Anyway, I also heard on the second season or something, the manga-ka gets REALLY screwed up and does things that actually contradicts characters and their abilities. Like Rock Lee (or whoever) who can't use the ninja moves, suddenly can. oO;

Well, I'm 14, and don't like Naruto (And just as a funny fact, I do like DBZ)doughboy wrote:Keep in mind though that this show is aimed at 14 year olds.
As I've said before, it started off as something great (The first 40 episodes or something) but after episode 80 (Or something) they just wasted it all, and became boring.
It was still somewhat decent up to episode 100, but after that, it became senless and I just stopped watching it.
IMO, Just watch the first +80 episodes, theyre great.. But after that.. It just sucks.

If your so easily to give up on a series after a few episodes, I agree with fully that you should quit the series.. never found Narutos voice annoying at all really, and it does sound better and gets more interesting later on(don't know if it'll happen with the english) but hey, I will tell you first 20 eps is waay different from the next 15 after that, then just goes in another very interesting direction.Tainted_Eden wrote:Bah, I think I'll just read the manga, and screw the show. Give up while your ahead I guess(what a total of 5 episodes you've seen right ) and stick with the manga because that ONE voice you heard is soo annoying it's just best to stay as far away from it as possible.. if a friend is watching the japanese version in the room your in, go out and have a smoke from the frustration of JUST hearing that damn voice witch is one of the most annoying things to hear in a series that is magically popular amongst college students.. I just don't know how they can deal with watching it with that damn voice of Narutos.. I dunno.. maybe it's the story or something.. whatever it is they MUST be crazy or something.

Actually, the series is aimed at the 10 to 12 year old demographic both in Japan and in it's NorthAmerican liscensing derivation.

It's an ok show. Nothing to get really excited over.
Like any long running shows, such as Inuyasha it's got some repetitive themes, and every once in a while you get that 'after school special' brand or morality that pops in.
I wound up losing a lot of respect for the show when none of the chracters died. Seriously, the message of being willing to fight to your last breath and beyond is totally lost when there are no consequences. It's like the loser at a football game also gets a trophy. What's the point then?
On the other hand, there are still some fun moments to the show, and the chracters are wide ranged enough that you're likely to find one that matches your preferences.
