Aaaaa! Squeeeee! He's cute! (Yeah, I go for the geeky glasses look.)
Too bad he also worked on some of the shows I absolutely hate. (I can't stand DBZ, and Lupin III is just sick.)

What's wrong with Lupin the 3rd!?
Anyway, Fruits Baskets is more popular than I ever expected. I've never seen the anime or read the manga (yet), and all I can say is this:
"OH GOD! MAKE IT STOP! MAKE IT STOP PUHLLLLLEEEEAAAAZZZZEEE!"
: Sobs and bawls :
I made a thread in the General AMV section regarding how I was having the DAMNDEST time trying to find a good FUNNY Fruits Baskets AMV. There were so many freakin' sobby dramatic ones, and yet that only covers one end of the spectrum. It's a romantic COMEDY! GEEZ!
It's becoming almost as bad as DBZ! So popular that people keep making bad AMVs off of it! (and I've seen some BAD ones!)
I'm trying to figure out why so many people (especially fangirls) are going ga-ga for this series! I mean what is UP with that?! There hasn't been a series this popular with the fangirls since... well I dunno what!? Fushigi Yugi's popularity WANES in comparison to this!
MEIN GOTT!
So someone please explain to me WHY the relationships are often talked about so much more THAN THE HUMOR! I thought it was a romantic COMEDY! Not a Harlequin romance novel!

Because at the core of it, Furuba is about relationships between the characters, romantic or no. If you're under the impression it was just straight-up comedy. . . you were misinformed. It does have its hilarious moments, and often it is light-hearted, but at the core, it is about a young girl's optimism and hope reaching everyone around her and helping them through some MAJOR issues. This is why the relationships are talked about most.
Frankly, if you haven't seen or read it, how can you expect someone to make the video that YOU think should be made of it, when you really don't know what it's about? If you watched it, you would understand why people love all the relationships between the characters. Additionally, a lot of the humor in Fruits Basket is dependent upon those character's relationships as well- it's not hard to grasp the humor, but in many instances, it helps to have at least a basic understanding of the context. I remember in your other thread, you complained that you didn't like "A Song for Everyone" because you hadn't seen the show. Didn't that give you a clue that maybe it's a show that requires more familiarity in order to understand its humor? I thought the AMV was funny before I'd seen the show, but now that I've seen it and read the manga, it's hilarious to me.
And I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as DBZ when it comes to videos. I thought about making a humor AMV to Fruits Basket myself, but my problem was that I couldn't come up with a comedic concept that I liked well enough that would work for 3-4 minutes, unless I just did a video full of random funny clips. However, I came up with several possible ideas for a dramatic video that I could make ten-minute videos out of easily.
Also, on a possibly slightly more sexist-sounding note, it's a very very shoujo anime, which means it's aimed towards girls (although I know plenty of men who like it), and girls tend to get more into relationships between characters.

As a guy going into a design field, I'm very critical when something doesn't work out well and not just because I, myself, don't like it, but because I'm actually finding OTHER PEOPLE who have the same issues I do.

One of the things I bring up about making a good AMV is that to be as good as it can be, it MUST stand on its own. It needs to be able to stand out and remain standing with absolutely NO knowledge of the anime or manga required to get the jist of it.
Tricks such as:
Lip-synching
Editing in time with the music
Significance of music to the anime
A coherent theme
Best choices in footage
are all things that can make a vid stand out on its own without requiring a knowledge of the people in it or the story. Besides, if people were always expected to know the anime inside and out before seeing a vid, then what would be the point of spoiler warnings?
Now as for that "A Song for Everyone" video, I actually haven't had a chance to see it yet. Let's have a looksie...
: watches video :
BUH BUH BUH BINGO!!!
THIS is the video I've been looking for! Finally, something that truly gets the feeling and concepts of Fruits Baskets across WITHOUT requiring a knowledge of the anime or manga! PERFECT!
And the ending was good too!
So now I am satisfied that there is a good Fruits Basket video out there, and I also now believe that there can be more good videos as well. Comedy, drama, or action, it CAN be done!
The editing and choice of music was SPOT on, and the footage selection was excellent, and all in all, it was VERY well done, and worthy of praise!
What I want to see is more vids meet this level of quality. And from the looks of it, sure there are plenty of bishonen in the series, but this kind of vid can attract girls AND guys alike to the series, even if they aren't familiar. It can break any guy-created misconceptions of the series, and it has done that for me!
I can't believe I missed that one!

YUKI AND TOHRU of course!
I really think that Yuki and Tohru should end up together coz'
I think that Yuki needs her more that Kyo and besides Kyo has Kagura
and I also think that they should end up together because in the series Yuki really wanted for someone to accept him for who he realy is (a rat)
and Tohru did
Kyo on the other hand at first only wanted to be a proud member of the Sohma family, then when Tohru came everything changed for him
well anyways again YUKI AND TOHRU ALL THE WAY! ! ! ! !

But Kyo doesn't want to have anything to do with Kagura! And frankly, I think she's a little too dangerous for him to be around.
Besides, Tohru is a fan of the cat in the zodiac legend.
Ah, I don't really have a preference, but anything that gets Kyo away from Kagura can't be all bad. (That girl is *crazy!*)

Well Yea, she is crazy and not to mention violent
but hey I bet if Kyo actually asks her out she'll probably flip out and stop being so crazy and violent (probably, not sure though)

I dunno hey, I'm the same year as Kagura (the pig) and I'm prone to mood swings and bouts of extreme stochastic insanity no matter what the situation.Kathreen wrote:Well Yea, she is crazy and not to mention violent

Oh and... I can't believe this fuckin convo is still going. They're animated characters for christs sake. worry about your own (lack of) relationships.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
