Botched everybody? Is that mean you even hated the English dub voice for Puchiko? If you say yes, then you realized that you just dissed her.hypes wrote: Synch Point's Leave it to Piyoko. OMFG, they com pletely botched up EVERYBODY in that show (Piyoko herself, not bad, oddly)

hehe. I remember when I saw Esca for the first time I really hated the Dub too, and yup, it was the exact same VA's that really irked me. And I think Esca is one of the great animes. For the record, the sub of Esca is terrific.aquaticus wrote:maybe not the WORST dubs ever, but a couple of the worst I've witnessed so far:
Escaflowne and Orphen
Hitomi and Merle's VA's in Escaflowne are among the most annoying I've ever heard, and Orphen, while the voices themselves aren't TOO bad, the translations are GOD AWFUL
Later on, I saw Ranma 1/2 and Inu Yasha dubbed. While those animes have their share of annoying voices, I really enjoyed them and thought they added to the fun of those shows. I forget her name, Kelly Sheridan (sp?), but she's the one who does the voice of Hitomi in Esca. She does a much better job as Sango in IY and Ukyo in Ranma 1/2. After seeing those animes, I went back and saw ESCA again, and was bothered a lot less by the dub.
Meryl still annoyed me, as did the mole man, but great dub performances by Paul Dobson as Folken and Andrew Goldhawk as Dilandau saved the Esca dub in the end I think.

In Leave it to Piyoko, Puchiko said like three words (in fact, she never really talks at all in any of them!), so it's really hard to notice. But you gotta agree, the Dijiko and the Rik are AWFUL!!!angelx03 wrote:Botched everybody? Is that mean you even hated the English dub voice for Puchiko? ok, well I don't know how many of you out there are from the UK, but new releases of Dragonball Z movies and episodes have come out with different dubbing to FUNimation.....and my god, 'terrible' is too light a word. This was obviously done by people who had no clue about, well, anything! People who arent familiar with DBZ probably won't know what I'm going on about, but to the people that do:
Piccolo's name was changed to.....Big Green. WTF is that about!?
Krillin was presumed a kid, therefore given a child's voice.
The voice acting in general was just really bad, names were pronounced wrongly, some sentences didn't even make sense.
But the worst thing of all - Goku's voice. Aaarrgh, makes me shudder to think about. Never have I heard such a manly, self-rightious, Captain America, big, bold abomination. You couldn't get any further from what Goku's character is defined by.
Anyway, I've had my little rant. Needed to let it out somewhere
It was quite funny to watch, but seriously, lines have to be drawn.

While that is true, it's because they haven't got the same version as FUNimation, the version they're using asn't even been digitally remastered the same way the american releases have been, i guess they got distribution rights from the Japanese company but couldn't get the rights to the dub from FUNimation so had to do their own version or something...damn british companies suck ass.janus85 wrote:ok, well I don't know how many of you out there are from the UK, but new releases of Dragonball Z movies and episodes have come out with different dubbing to FUNimation.....and my god, 'terrible' is too light a word. Hmm thats weird for me though, I happen to like the US Witch Hunter Robin dubbing rather than the Japanese, but thats just me. I agree with most people, I would've expected more from Naruto. I mean they could've made it worth our while, but eh.
