NG EVA - platinum collection really worth it?

I think that's the impetus for people to buy the separate releases. More extras.

My personal buying philosophy tends to be if I really really liked the series, I'll buy the individual discs, if I'm not so enthusiastic, I'll wait for the box sets.

I see anime companies releasing box sets of series as either milking the titles for one last drop or trying to recoup any losses they suffered trying to sell the individual discs. So, the best way to show support for shows that you really like and want more of is to buy the individual discs rather than wait for the box set. Profit is just about the biggest impetus any company can get and they make the most per unit off of the individual releases. This in turn allows them to pick up either more series in quantity or popular/better quality series for us to enjoy here.

Sounds like you got yourself a european release. That means european interlacing which in my experience means Full Field Blend interlacing. I got the R1 release, and it looks good, although i have yet to try and edit with it. But i always buy the R1 release since it usually has a better quality than the european releases.

thanks for the opinion guys! Started to edit with the original release (with the help from a script from Scintilla) and it's looking pretty good... so far.

Maybe after I do my christmas segment for Jadd's christmas MEP, I may decide differently...

Except for me I can't justify Re-Buying something I own and works perfectly well. Even if it is only $50 bucks.

Reasons to get the NGE Platinum edition?

Crisp bright visuals. This thing will never look better than what it does.
No Eva gitter with transitions from scene to scene...
The 5.1 soundtrack is BRILLIANT!!!
You automatically get the director's cut episodes as well as their original release.

It will certainly look different from what you remember it. And a hell of a lot better than what they are showing on television.
