Original Japanese Creators Against Anime Edtitng?

Post by Pitman » Wed Jan 18, 2006 6:42 pm

I am doing a research paper for school, and I have to pick a side on a contraversial issue, so I am choosing to do the paper over being against anime editing. I have to have information from "experts." So, anyway, has anyone ever read or heard about orginal Japanese anime creators speaking out against anime editing?

Well, no one really that important, oh what was his name - HAYAO MIYAZAKI

After a hacked-up version of Nausicaa was released in the US, spliced together with two other anime movies, as "Warriors of the Wind" (which, of course, was as terrible as you can imagine), Miyazaki set up an effective boycott of any American studio, unless they agreed to a "no edits policy."

Most of the original creators signed over most of their rights to their series when like a manga is turned into an anime. Most of the time they give input such as character designs and meaning behind certain character actions but more often then not most of the power resides within the chair of the director and the producers. Since this day and age is so money hungry when it comes to tv, as long as their companies recieve payment, they could care less what happens to the series or movies.

The only exception it seems lies with directors such as Miyazaki who consider their movies pieces of art and don't like their artworks being butchered.
