Think they did a better job with the dub?

That's actually what made it funnier to me o.o;;

I have a hard time following what's going on the screen and trying to read the subs at the same time. I do dub first then sub. After that some are better for me sub or dub.

I don't freak out about little things (like calling a futon a bed in the dub), but I do agree that if the dub is very bad (like when they rewrite jokes or cut sceens out), I'll go sub. I do get annoyed when the dub throws in swears that were never in the sub.

Goldenboy I do agree, is better dub, namely because in the dub I get the emotional impact, instead of just reading words. But Azumanga is better sub for me because the jokes about foreigners are killed in the dub.

So it's and miss with me. I don't care either way how you all like it. I won't argue. :D :b:

true, true words...

That may be true, but I don't like how Chiyo's voice was done in Japanese...makes her sound too young...sure, she's 10 and they're 17, but still...I liked the dub of Yukari as well, she seemed to have more of the wild, crazy teacher feeling in the dub then with the subs.

Ranma 1/2 is one series I just cannot stand in japanese...the emotion in the jokes are so dry most of the time that its just not fun to hear...Richard Ian Cox does Ranma amazingly well, I love the overreaction in his voice in most episodes.

For the most part I like dub and sub equally. But there are a few that I've liked the dub only slightly more.

I'll agree that Golden Boy is better dubbed; Kintaro is just funny to listen to in English. And Yu Yu Hakusho; but this is probably because I watched the English version for over a year before I heard it in Japanese.

There's a thing about the Naruto dub. I don't even know why I'm bringing this up, but that part in Episode 3 where Naruto and Sasuke accidentally kiss was blocked out, but they brought it back in that other episode where Sasuke and Naruto fight Haku. It doesn't really bug me, but I thought I'd bring it up anyway.

That shouldn't be blocked in the DVD's of the dubs though. Check those out if you really REALLY want to see Sasuke and Naruto make out......not saying that you want to. :wink:

It's not voice talents in the dubs I was against, just that they choose to rewrite some of the jokes because (and this my guess) we americans wouldn't get that they are japanese girls taking an english language class.

I think that so far the only animes I've seen that are better in english are:Sailor Moon,Inuyasha,Lupin the III. But I can't agree with ppl who think Naruto in english is good,cause the ppl that do the voices don't fit the person nor do they have talent(but thats just what I think)!!

Ranma is the onl;y dub where I atually liked it Better than the japanse track. That i can remember anyway. THere are some series where the dub is descent enough to watch though, like Cowboybeepop and a few others. Normally what I have a problem with is the english actors usually can't get all the emotions right. Especially in romance series. [/i]
