Someone give me an explanation of the girl's coma and the creepy tower in "Beyond the Clouds", I haven't actually seen the anime yet, only several videos. I'm curious enough to want to know but not yet curious enough to buy. Your answer may be the determining factor in such a purchase.
Life's short.

The movie is excelent. I reccomend it fully.Spoilerificalness wrote:The girl is related to the person who created the tower, which can access other dimensions. As long as she is asleep, the other dimensions are transferred into her dreams, preventing the tower from over-writing our dimension and there for destroying the world. However her childhood friends promised to fly to the tower with her one day, but now to do so would cause her to wake up. therefor activating the tower.

Great anime, beautiful animation, an engrossing storyline, about 90 minutes long, I had to watch it a couple times to really get what was going on. It is also titled "The Place Promised in Our Early Days" and available from ADV. It's available on their Valantine sale for 18 bucks, here, http://www.advfilms.com/sales.asp
Here is what they have to say about it.
Referred to as “the new Miyazaki”, creator Shinkai (Voices of a Distant Star) has created a beautifully lush science-fiction masterpiece that explores the powerful complexities of love, the driving force of curiosity, and the enduring value of a promise. Recently released in theaters across Japan, The Place Promised in Our Early Days was awarded the Animation Film Award (the Grand Prize in animation) at the 59th annual Mainichi Film Concours, the same award which had been awarded to Kiki’s Delivery Service and Spirited Away in the past.
“This is without a doubt one of the most exciting and most talked about animated feature films to come out of Japan in years, as demonstrated by Japan’s record-breaking theater attendance.” said John Ledford, President and C.E.O of ADV Films. “We are thrilled and very proud to bring this highly acclaimed film to North American audiences!”
Synopsis: Set in an alternate universe, this sci-fi story centers around three teenagers, a rip in the space-time continuum, and the perseverance to keep a promise against all odds. The film captures slice-of-life beauty between three friends, while epic events threaten to drive them apart.
“The animation is breathtaking. The backdrops are stunning; it’s so life-like that it’s hard to believe it is animated. Every outdoor scene is exquisite, as is every shot of sky, whether cloudy, sunny, nighttime, raining or intensely blue.”—Active Anime
A DVD-only release presented in both English 5.1 and Japanese 2.0 with English subtitles. Extras include interviews with the Japanese cast and director, the original Japanese trailers, and previews of upcoming ADV releases
