G Gundam A lost anime
G Gundam is a good anime i think but it was lost in the spotlight of Gundam Wing only due to the fact that it was at one time on Cartoon Network i think that is bullshit

I like G Gundam, not sure it's A-list but it's very watchable. I love the outlandish designs for the various countries' Gundams. (Nether Gundam is a huge favorite.) While I was in college, I got to go to a presentation by Yasuhiro Imagawa where he talked about his ideas and concepts behind G Gundam, especially how BANDAI wanted him to make sure there wer LOTS of different Gundams. That pronouncement, that there be LOTS of different Gundams, gave him the idea for a tournament where every country would send a Gundam to fight, like wrestling. And then he wrote the show from there. (He apologized to us that the American fighter had to lose to Japan. "Japan had to win, sorry!" Although I love Chibodee, and the fact that he fought Domon more than the rest and almost beat him once.)

Re: G Gundam A list anime
To be fair, almost every Gundam anime that's been brought stateside got shafted by Wing, albeit for different reasons.amvwizard wrote:G Gundam is a good anime i think but it was lost in the spotlight of Gundam Wing only due to the fact that it was at one time on Cartoon Network i think that is bullshit
Mobile Suit Gundam and, to a lesser extent Zeta, were both overshadowed simply because they had older animation and less 'pretty' character designs.
G Gundam, meanwhile, has always been the black sheep of the family, in part because, along with Turn A Gundam, it's one of the only ones that's a truly unique alternate universe (X got half-way there, but still borrowed a number of elements from other titles)
It gets a LOT of flak for using super robot-like elements, and, is summarily dismissed by a lot of fans as 'DBZ with Gundams'
It definitely doesn't get the credit it deserves.
bma: Curiosity bids me ask: By chance, was there any explanation why he got booted from Getter Robo: Armageddon? (...was kind of a shame, the eps he did for that OVA were easily the best.)
As for Chibodee...frankly, I find him ironically amusing...mostly from the knowledge his seiyuu also played Beck in The Big O and Yazan Gable in Zeta Gundam...so seeing him playing a clumsy villain and a violent thrill killer...then turning around and playing the jolly nice-guy American...yeah...

No, he mostly talked about his creative process, how it was half driven by himslef and half driven by his sponsors . He also talked about and showed a lot of scenes from Ajikko-san, which is where Yakitate! Japan cribbed a lot of ideas from. He barely even mentioned Giant Robo, mostly G Gundam and Ajikko-san, because at the time they were his least known series in America (this was way before Cartoon Network even picked up Gundam Wing, I think).
