The stories, and the fact that most have a tangible beginning and end. The story is done, the point was made, the character's overcame their obstacles.
This is why I don't like Naruto, DBZ, and other anime, that is just were on a journey [insert next tougest enemy here], beat enemy, [insert tougher enemy here], rinse and repeat

You haven't seen many americasn comics, have you? Spiderman has depth (I haven't read Superman much, so can't talk about that) Ieven used to be into some american comics that were just about High schoolers. No magic, no superpowers.Yunacat wrote:>The many different genres (not just action, scifi, ect, and not just a super hero saving the world all the time like in most American comics, cartoons, and movies.. @_@ Spiderman and Superman are SO old..)

The artwork - There is a great energy to the style and presentation in most of the shows that I like. (Ghost in the Shell, Macross Zero, Zettai Shonen)
The stories - Two reasons here: first, the stories are frequently deep and surprisingly engaging despite what would seem to be rediculous circumstances and two, thanks (I think) to the cultural differences the stories don't always go in a direction that I was expecting, or end up the way that I want. (Victorian Romance Emma, Wolf's Rain)
Plot Arc - Most series have a definate story to tell... they tell it and it ends. Unlike many popular American cartoons, which are open-ended, most anime seems to avoid this trap. (Mai Hime, Stellvia, Ghost in the shell)
Character development - Frequently the characters have interesting and mature relationships. For example: Wolf's Rain - Cher and Hubb. Also, since most of the shows are geared toward a specific age group, they tend to cover things that people are actually inclined to think about. Given the general age group of Anime it would seem that coming of age, and developing relationships with others is the key.

hmm, whats already been said, but to not make this post worthless.
1. its something different to look at.
2. some animes are better than big budget movies of the same genre.
3. the way someones face can go from normal to super destorted just because its funny.
4. the amount of perverted jokes that never get stale.
5. appreciation for the amount of imagination thats put into a series no matter how good or bad the show may be.

What interesting quiestion
I like anime for the animation, sound, voices, lights effects and colors on the screen(thing I cant find in manga)
I think the moves made by animation shows more the action than in a manga (hey I read manga also so I respect it too I am just giving my opinion) and above all, the sounds and voices, makes an anime be more alife.
