His failure to kill Knives was what, instead, doomed several towns to their deaths.
Did you just say Vash has killed on the basis that he didn't kill?

And yes, I suppose you are right about that last part, but thety said used
In a way, that was kind of one of the big messages of the show. Vash's refusal to kill was actually doing more harm than it was good.

I thought the big message was that killing is unnecessary. Even with your example of Vash killing, he spends the next episode telling himself there had to have been another way.

A big part of Trigun was the theme of "You always have another option;" this of course, got blown away with Legato's head (pun intended). An even bigger, more porminent theme comes right afterwards: "There is no sin, no matter how great, that cannot be attoned for, given enough time, energy, and thought."

The latter philosophy, then, DOES play into Kenshin's ideal.

I still have this to point out though: although Vash tries his darndest to never mention his name, for the sake of people running and screaming from him, Kenshin doesn't try to hide the title "Hitokiri Battosai," though if you ever ask him what his name is, he obviously won't present you with that one. Still though, neither's going to do the whole ""You're Batman!" "No I'm not." "You aren't wearing your mask, of course you are!" "... this is a latex mask covering my real mask; I'm not Bruce Wayne."" thing.

By the way, should I put the whole Batman-is-Bruce-Wayne thing in a Spoiler box, or are people not as stupid as I give them credit for?

Thank you, random Flamebating Newb; your intellectual insight into this conversation has been most rewarding. I now agree... Trigun and Kenshin Sucks Ass.

P.S. - Please, don't capitalize every first letter; you're not the first to try that, though I'm sure you do believe you are, and please - try grammar. And while you may believe that your statement will somehow cause riots to ensue, or perhaps you think yourself clever for making such a statement, I can assure you that many of us here are far too old to find little more than an immature attempt at self-indulgement in your post. Please advance a few years in grade school before trying something "witty" again. Thank you, and have a nice day.

I Think You Have Discovered The 'Themes' To A Whole Heck Of A Lot Of Anime, Not Just Trigun and Kenshin.

*cough*

Sorry about the weird talking. The 'reformed killer' is a pretty common storyline, in anime and in Hong Kong action movies as well. doesn't mean it's necessarily a rip-off, or that they all end the same way or draw the same message. It's just common.

How about this commonality in theme. Person trains to become the best, meet other person who is better, then trains to be beyond them, often by unlocking some new hidden technique or power. Repeat. Oops, I just summed up the story to almost every action anime. :) Didn't mean to spoil them all for you. :O But like I said, just because the themes are similar, doesn't mean they aren't good independent shows.
Life's short.

Everything either repeats or grow similar in my opinion. Heh its just a question of when the directors deadline is.

Nicely put man. You need to get together with a few of the intelligent people on the org and write a guide on "How NOT to be a flamebaiting newb on the org." You never know, it might actually help out a little.
