Filler episodes

Because anime episodes are quicker to produce than manga, the manga based anime series will eventually catch the original manga. To prevent animators and anime fans from getting bored, filler episodes are made. Filler episodes don't influence the main story in any way and they can be skipped without missing anything important.

The sad fact is that quite often the filler episodes aren't as well made as normal episodes. A long filler episode chain can contain many small "side storys", which are 1-3 episodes long. All the new characters which appear in filler episodes are newer shown again. By putting it short: the mini storys are usually not as fun and addictive than the main story.

So to the question. Do you like watching filler episodes? Do you think them as a refreshing brakes between the parts of main story? Or do you think that filler episodes are pure crap? All opinions are welcome

Do you like watching filler episodes? NO
Why? Because they are pointless. The only time I like them is when they are funny. Like Excel Saga Episode 26. I love Berserk as most of you already know, and that anime hasn't a sheard of filler. Everything has to do with the story line and that is why I love it so much. Well at least one of the reasons anyway.

Do you think them as a refreshing brakes between the parts of main story? NO
Why? I am into the story I don't want a break. There can be some falling action here and there, but at least not an episode worth.

Or do you think that filler episodes are pure crap? Yes
Why? Because they are pointless unless they are funny.

Wait the FMA manga has a different ending than the anime+movie? Holy...~runs off to tazmo or torrentfinder~

Once you get up to Lab 5 in the manga you can see where it starts taking a different path. I prefer the manga myself to the anime.

Actually, it's around the time that Izumi is introduced (it could have been later). Basically, it diverges about the begining of the 2nd season of the anime.

That's when you START to see the changes....is at Lab 5.

End of Lab 5 = Vol 4
Izumi Intro + past info = Vol 5-6

AND YES!!!! On episode 182(correct me if Im wrong it may of been 183) of naruto It mentioned in the opening credits there being only ONE MORE WEEK OF FILLERS!!!!! So episode 183/184 shoudl be the last filler episode and then maybe we'll get the story back on track ^.^

No. The subbers said that. And they were guessing. And they were most likely wrong, just like every other time they tried to guess...

Yeah. From what i've read on some [Japanese] sites is that this could possibly take till about episode 200 before the actual story continues without fillers.. > >

I will admit, there are times when filler episodes can actually be as entertaining as the main story.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Fumoffu original stories, not based on the FMP manga?

And, yes, most Naruto fillers aren't up to par with the others, but what a few of them have done was correct Kishimoto's horrible plot holes.

For example, Sakura:

Manga - "Well, for no reason at all, I'm gonna become a Medical Ninja."
Anime - "Okay, I went to get Sasuke back with Naruto, and ended up being able to do just about squat... in fact, me being there was more of a liabilty than anything, and my best friend just got his ass handed to him trying to save me... Okay, if a Medical Ninja would be of help, then that's what I'm gonna do."

Actually, exactly what you have typed there for the anime is also what happened in the manga. It just took less time to show it.. > >

But i will agree that the anime/fillers do sometimes fix plotholes. (that's just not one of them.. > >)

I'm with the minority on this one. I like filler episodes. Of course if they aren't entertaining, then I don't like them. Then again, most of the anime I watch isn't completely serious, so the filler usually has some sort of comedy entertainment value to it. The filler in serious anime is probably a terrible thing.
