Well I haven't got to Old man and the see yet, fuck no thank you kindly but I can't wait, other than that I had this thought once. Sometimes I write poetry or short stories, well comics and folks say ''oh I get the message dude, bla bla bla'' WTF dude it's just a story I wasn't thinking of a message. Yeah the fact is there's always or we could find or make up a message in anything.BasharOfTheAges wrote:For reference, how many of you have been asked to analyze Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea for symbolism while you were in school? And how many of you know that according to the author himself "symbolism is shit!" and he did not put any symbols into the novel? Yet people still analyse it over and over again like he didn't say a word. There are even official answers that teachers are supposed to grade you on at highschools and colleges across the nation! yet none of them are Hemmingway's.
So yeah good point, folks seem to be finding subliminal stuff that isn't there.
I won't say if this kind of stuff is or isn't in NGE because I don't care.
When I think of NGE I think of the problems of the people involved, sweet animation and sweetass mechas... and the mecha part is the biggest
If I want to analyze stuff that's full of symbols I'll go watch something like the Matrix.
And I think that NGE isn't all that about Philosophy and symbolism and overall messages as it is about psychology.
NGE is all about psychology, since the author before making it was on psychotheraphy and used his newbound knowlage to create NGE.
