Yes it's the fact that anime is usually so close to real life and yet able to take us into different worlds and realities that make them worth watching over other things. All the time we want to live in the life of someone else, if not alot then just a little.. we want to see things in the eyes of other people because we are so used to our own lives, the reason I watch anime is because it is able to take me into and emotional state that nothing else is.Lomgrey wrote:Ummm.. not sure how many of you watched Great Teacher Onizuka, but that scene where Tomoko is on stage talking about her failing friendship with Miyabi really brought a tear to my eye. It's not a case of being manly or "dark". I find anime, unlike the other crap on T.V., brings out some of the strongest emotions in people. If it didn't, we wouldn't care what happens between Naru and Keitaro, Kazuki and Yuna, Keiichi and Belldandy..... but we do.....
have you ever cried after watching an anime ? ***SPOILERS***

out of all the sappy sad story live action videos I've seen.. I must say I've cried more through anime.. some concepts really get to me.
Like Trigun.. OMG what a horrid thing that happens to Vash..
Green Legend Ran.. this anime about hope and loss really gets to me.
RahXephon - at some points it just made me tear eyed
Samurai X(RK OVA) Ummm... don't wanna talk about it.....
Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien - throughout this series I got pretty teary over many concepts.. put myself in the shoes of many characters in this series and the concepts really get to me.
and some other random ones.. this is one of the things I like about anime. It can be so touching.

Let me see...the only three I recall are:
1. Last Samurai X movie - the ending
2. Fushigi Yuugi - Nuriko's death
3. Chrono Crusade - Rosette & Chrono's death
The first time I saw them, I cried. The second, my eyes teared but the third, well, I must have gotten over it cuz nothing happens after that.

The end of Fullmetal Alchemist...
The ending of Chrno Crusade? I thought it was the most beautiful ending possible. They ended their lives together and in peace, like they wanted. Perfect, in my opinion. Actually, I am yet to watch an anime with a better finale.

And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.
