Post by Cagbagger » Fri Oct 06, 2006 2:40 am

hi, i was just going to begin watching Full metal alchemist, and was wondering if there were any specific storyline episodes. i guess i'm trying to avoid filler eps since it's a longer series than i'm used to. thanks.

If I remember correctly, there are probably only 2 episodes that can be considered "filler". Well, one of those is definitely filler (the secondary characters focused episode). Surprisingly, characters and story elements in seemingly throw-away episodes re-appear and become fairly important later. Not watching the few fillers in this series is not going to save you much time (unlike a certain series beginning with "N").

Episode 26 is the most fillerish (and the worst episode because of it in my opinion) and quite a lot of the episodes in series 3 are considered to be fillers, but if you miss something important that happens in one of these episodes you may not understand the later ones.

Hope that helps

Episode 10 with that female thief seemed like nothing but pure filler to me.

episode 10 was kind of a filler but it was there to show that Ed was helping people with his alchemy, cuz later on when he gets back to headcourters the flame alchemist tells him about reports of these things Ed has done. And it showed Ed that The flame alchemist was keeping up with his work. ^_^

Now by "filler" do you mean an episode that has to do with nothing, or one not in the original manga's same storyline?

I thought of the Ed & Roy fight to be something more for entertainment with a glimpse of Mustangs inner demons.

Well,in FMA the only real filler is in episode 37 which focuses on the secondary characters. But you'd better watch it since it is damn funny!!

Episode 10 is moving you towards the new destination which is where Ed will meet people that will help him in the end,so you'd better watch it.Generally, after the Nina incident(ep.8) everything could be considered filler up to the ep.16-17(I don't remember exactly) but in these episodes you learn more about secondary characters and how they met with Ed so you cannot say they are fillers exactly...

True, even the Tringham brothers are brought back later as unwitting stand-ins for Ed and Al.

are you talking about the two guys who impersonated the elrics?
Everything came from nothing, therefore everything is nothing.

There's nothing to worry about.

Yeah, they're just plot devices.
