Your friend is misinformed. The vast majority of animé DVDs sold in North America today are uncut; those that ARE cut usually have no Japanese audio at all and are meant for a younger audience.
To put it another way, if a North American company is going to include both English and Japanese language tracks on a DVD, they're NOT going to make it so that watching with one audio stream gives you more footage than watching with another. They may use slightly different footage for things like opening and ending sequences and next episode previews (hello TRSI's Kare Kano), via the use of multiple angles, but they will not make scenes from the actual episodes only visible with a certain language track set.
Specifically, the Love Hina DVDs only have one video stream for both English and Japanese; as far as I know, they don't even have multiple angles.

Yes. What you see when watching it in English is exactly the same as what you see when watching it in Japanese (well, aside from the soft subtitles, of course).icesta1 wrote:So your saying the Love Hina DVDs only have ONE Video stream for both english and japanese?
I don't know any place offhand that sells Australian DVDs; however, you can always get the R1 DVDs from places like http://www.bestprices.com and http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com , or the Japanese R2s from http://www.cdjapan.co.jp -- your computer's DVD drive won't care what region the discs are for ripping purposes. Of course, if you want to actually WATCH the DVDs, it might be a problem.icesta1 wrote:Also Im not even sure Australia (where i live) sell Love Hina DVDs and if they did, I doubt they will be uncut -_- Bloody Aus cuts everything out!! I know they're uncut, at least Bandai's R1 version. I don't see why whoever has the Australian license would make any cuts, but maybe someone who's seen more Australian anime DVDs than I could contribute more.icesta1 wrote:Oops also forgot to include: Do you think Love Hina DVDs will be uncut??
