I'll take this one

In cowboy bebop he had all intents and purposes to go there and die. He knew he was fighting all odds, and was trying to defie them. The one quote that stood out to me when he was going there was when he was talking to fae, "I'm not going there to die, I'm going there to see if I'm alive."

However

I don't know too much about the new cowboy bebop manga that came out, or when it takes place. But in the anime he dies.

If you mean "Shooting Star", thats just the same characters done by someone else in their own style.

I definitely believe that Spike is dead...unfortunately... *cries a bit inside* Why, you ask? Well, at the end of the series, either before or after the credits scrolled, a small star in the sky faded out, and if you remember the symbolism behind that, you'll realize that Spike did indeed fade out to oblivion.
