Is this anime movie worth something [Fullmetal Alchemist]

Post by freddy12354 » Wed Jan 31, 2007 10:00 am

I wondered if Fullmetal Alchemist The movie is a good movie?
Because i have seen before that movies made after series are bad, like The vision of Escaflowne, it's a great series but the movie is not worth SHIT!
I find it kind of funny, i find it kind of sad, the dream in which i'm dying is the best i ever had...

I enjoyed the FMA movie
helped to explain some of the loose ends in the end of the series
of course it would of helped if I actually saw the end of the series first...
at the very least, it's not a movie version of the series, it actually has an [mostly] independent story

The movie was ok, but the series was way better. I enjoyed the movie, but not as much as the series.

The movie was good, it just obviously couldn't go as much into depth with the story as the series could because it's a movie and didn't have as much time. But I enjoyed it, and some of the animation was pretty hawt.

The movie is the "Happy Ending" version for people who didn't like the depressing finale of the series (even though it was obvious that it wouldn't end cheerful by episode 12), but it has some good animation and story-wise it's good closure for Envy, Gluttony and the Hohenheim - Aspects of the wrap-up that went missing in the series.
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

I wouldn't exactly call this the "Happy Ending" version :|

Well, it's happy compared to the series end.
Movie Spoilers wrote:In the end, the brothers are together and with their full bodies, which is what they always wanted. They are in a different universe, but they never once said "we want to get our bodies back without being thrown across the otherworldly gate into nazi Germany" so it isn't really a big problem

Well
Spoiler :
They may have been together with their bodies intact at the end, but they were stuck in the other world, when Ed had spent pretty much the ENTIRE movie trying to get home. Plus they had to leave behind everyone they cared about that world, especially Winry (who I really feel sorry for). So yes it was happier, but there was still a bit of sadness, so it wasn't entirely happy. Plus a bunch of people died. That kinda puts a damper on things.
