Eva Renewal references in AD's guide

Absolute Destiny refers to 'the Eva Renewal' dvds in his guide and says they are FILM...does he mean the platinum DVDs?

IIRC, Eva renewal is the "remastered" box set that came out before the "remastered" platinum disks. It might have also come with the two movies

the platinum ones should be NTSC (at least that's what it told me when I indexed the vobs off of the platinum disks)

good to know. I just wanted to know if it would be worth it to invest since I have the oldest boxset with the half-field blended make me want to go gendo on Gainax's ass because I have to encode everything in three or four different ways depending on the way I'm breathing at the time of wrtiing the avs script...

I think I read somewhere that the Japanese Renewal release was indeed progressive. Anyway ADV's Platinum disks are easy to IVTC, so you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

I can attest to the Renewal R2s of the movies being FILM, but I don't know about the TV part. I'd guess so, though, judging by a comment that was made (I think by ErMaC) on one of the threads dealing with the Stateside release of Platinum and ADV effing it up.

Anyway, yeah, Platinum is easy to IVTC - that TFM call that always comes up does it nicely.
