Worst voices in Anime...

I like a lot of the female VAs who do male voices. If you listen to Megumi Ogata (YYH Kurama's va) in her remix of Koori no Naifu, she sounds like a woman trying to sound like a young guy - her voice is especially "husky" in that one.

Goku's va sounds like a woman trying to sound like a little girl. It's the worst "female VA doing a male character voice" I've ever heard. And it still begs the question of why they gave him a little girl's voice. He's not a bishonen character, he's not a teenager, he's a big older man with a squeaky schoolgirl voice. It's scary.

Now then, one more series to avoid in japanese is G gundam, Sai Saichi's voice would have been fine if he were a 100 year old man.

Ugh you insult me. Kappei Yamaguchi is a great VA, he gives teen agnst to Sai Saici. While I also like his english voice, I think the Japanese one gives more of a clue to his real age, I think he's like 16 at least, when I first saw it in english I thought he was 13 because of the feminine english voice. Nice to see teens in anime who are teens with TEEN voices. I like the Japanese one.

Yea, I think the woman who does the voice of Goku is in her late 70's now. Of course, she also does Gohan and Goten (Gotenks too if you want to get technical).

I think it was to make him sound cute, because Dragonball was never really intended as a serious series. People think Goku is cute, even when he's an adult. I always thought it was weird giving him a woman va as well.

Kind of like Haku from Naruto, in both the Japanese series and the English dub, he's voiced by a girl. But that makes sense because he looks like one.

...wow...I can't believe no one has mentioned Cardcaptor Sakura...er, I mean, "Cardcaptors", LOL.

That could pretty much go down in history as not only being THE WORST hack job EVER done to a series but the English voice acting was just...wow...it's so far beyond bad it shouldn't ever even be mentioned in polite conversation.

Another voice that just makes me cringe is the English Alucard in Hellsing...he sounds so fuckin weak and...human. The Japanese VA was infinitely better.

As has been mentioned before, the voice of the Japanese Goku in DBZ annoyed the hell out of me too, he sounded like a woman.

The English VAs in Kiddy Grade were also all pretty bad...plus they kinda butchered the original script. The worst part of that was when the VA who did Lumiere actually tried to SING the opening and closing songs...*shudder*...

On the GOOD side of things, I actually LIKED the English VA for Asuka...in fact I thought the whole English cast of NGE was pretty good.

I also liked the English VAs of Yu Yu Hakusho a LOT more than I did the original Japanese ones...but then I watched the English dub first, so I wonder if that might influence it somewhat.

Another real good VA is the one who did the English voice of Misaki in Angelic Layer. I was REALLY worried that they were gonna butcher that one on the dub so it was kind of a pleasant surprise.

My all time favorite VA though has got to be Sugar Baybee, she's just so unbelievably kyoot! I wish she would do more VA stuff. For reference she did the voice of Chibi Moon in Sailor Moon.

They made Kero sound like a "surfer dude", they changed most of the names, like Tomoyo was changed to Madison and was given a "valley girl" accent. Toya was changed to Tori, Yukito was changed to Julian, etc, etc. Overall they chopped 70 episodes down into about 30 and edited it to such an extent that Li was in the first episode rather than the eighth episode (because they felt the series needed to have a strong male lead). The absolute most slap in the face edit though has got to be when they called Tokyo Tower a "radio tower"...I mean...WOW...that's like having a series imported from France and then changing the name of the Eiffel Tower to a "radio tower"...that has just about got to be the most disrespectful thing you could EVER do when dubbing a series.

Almost all of the voices in the dubbed Bleach are terrible.

With the way the subs were, Ichimaru was suggested to be a Southerner, but the dub makes him sound British!

I hate Renji's voice. He almost sounds gay.

They took away all of the unique voice characteristics of the following characters: Orihime, Kon, Rangiku Matsumoto, Kisuke Urahara, and every single captain, especially Kurotsuchi.

I just found out that Ikkaku Madarame, my favorite character, is going to be played by Vic Mignogna (Edward Elric). They just don't match!

The only voice that even remotely resembles the original is Chad's, but he hardly ever talks!

This is simply unforgivable.
