What do you mean, the movie or the series, because the series doesn't have a happy ending, that's my opinion.
I find it kind of funny, i find it kind of sad, the dream in which i'm dying is the best i ever had...

To this day one of the single best endings I've seen goes to
Giant Robo episode 7 'The Grand Finale'

Appropriate parts epic finish + a final twist which actually makes sense within the context of the story = an overall result of an ending simultaneously happy and sad (even the final dedication was a nice touch.)

Pity we'll never get a sequel using where the OVA left things, but then again it's probably just as well. When the bar's that high, they'd wind up disappointing in trying to top it.

I meant to put a reason, Good because it made way for the movie.

I agree with Yu Yu Hakusho being the best happy ending out there (that I've seen, anyway). The titles I've seen with even memorable endings have been dissappointing for one reason or another: Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Berserk, Gundam 0083...there are more, I just can't bring myself to remember them to put them into the "bad endings" category.
You're lucky... I've decided to let you live to see the day when I will rule the world.

I liked Fullmetal Alchemist series ending.
Spoiler :
I thought it was good and kind of sad how Al didn't remember anything and was young.
The movie was good too.

Cowboy Bebop's ending has sealed it as my favorite show.
