A lot of series aren't worth finishing because they change radically. Trigun becomes unwatchable after around the second DVD. Evangelion suddenly decides to become Lain late in the series. The first few episodes of Bleach are only very vaugely like later episodes. A lot of series change so radically that what people liked about it to begin with disappears totally at the end. Personally I blame the japanese moods, they seem to be able to switch back and forth from laughing to crying a lot quicker than the average american.

Not quite a fair statement, as Evangelion was made before Lain, and besides, they started gradually building up the WTF factor around the halfway point (and they'd certainly been hinting at deeper and darker things to come all along, since the very first episode).

24-26 is the standard season for television even here in the US you'll find a lot of sereis that have thirteen or 24 eps per season
If you want a series to be longer just write fanfiction!(but don't make anyone read it)

for instance "24", be kinda stupid to have over 24 eps in one season if one ep represents each hour

and to the dude that dont like seies over 13 eps, guess Golden Boy went too long for you, huh

I can tolerate 30+ eps of anime. Some things need to be explained and i'm fine with that.

But when things start spinning in a circle and HAVE NO FREAKIN' ending for 150+ eps [Inu Yasha, you're on my shit list]

That's when things get ugly.

Please Teacher, Girls Bravo, Boys Be, etc.

I've found my fave anime usually runs between 12 [good for high budgets] and 26 [good for decent budgets and a solid story base]

But if it's past 40+ it better have quality packin' or else it's one of them [watch the beginning, ignore the middle, watch the end] type of crap.

Anime like this?

Bleach
Naruto

I can watch the early and latest eps, it's the filler arc that needs to take a one way ticket to Hades with 300 Spartans to kill said series...
"Strength lies in action. Let the weak react to me..." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter from Magic: the Gathering
"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)
"I AM REBORN!" - Dark Schneider Bastard!! OAV
