If you aren't all set on the anime being action focused, then Gankutsuou has a good story.
Also, Grenadier should fit what you want. It's kinda like Trigun, but I find the story to be better than that of the Trigun anime.

Bleach - Best combination of fighting and character development I've ever seen. This anime consumed a week of my life. Watch this!
Bleach - Yes I listed that a second time.
Bleach - Just making sure you see it.
Busou Renkin - Action and story anime by the same mangaka (author) as Rurouni Kenshin. Also not yet liscensed (I think) in US even though it's finished in Japan.
GetBackers - I second that choice. Great characters. The middle episdoes are a bit slow, but the other ones are awesome.
Trigun - Also seconded. Vash is just plain awesome.
Trinity Blood - Very similar to Trigun except with Vampires and the Vadican Church.
Scrapped Princess - Great story and some awesome fight sequences.
Gundam Seed/Gundam Seed Destiny - Anime is very big on moral dilemas, great characters. Not sure how into mecha you are.
Kiba - Great anime with a good cast of well rounded and fully fleshed out characters. Maybe a bit more story than action.
Fullmetal Panic - Very deep characters. Is more story than action, but still has some good fight scenes. (Second season is more of a joke season, though still worth a watch since it's hilarious. But first and third seasons are very good.)
Hunter x Hunter - Tends to be a bit quirky at times, but well worth watching.
Elemental Gelad - Characters can be a bit stereotypical, but over all an enjoyable anime.
I'm not sure about these two: Fate Stay Night and Shakugan no Shana. I wouldn't exactly consider these action animes since they are mostly about the characters, but each has some very pretty fight scenes.
I hope you'll be able to find something in there that you like. Also, I noticed that all of the anime's you listed are considered to be Shonen which "is a Japanese word used in English to refer to anime and manga primarily intended for boys" as wikipedia puts it. I'm not trying to be derogatory. I'll be the first to admit that Shonen are my favorites as well (yes I'm over 18). I'm just saying that if you are looking for something new to watch, try searching for other animes that are tagged as such. The Anime News Network is a great place to look up information on animes that you're not sure if you want to watch or not. Also, everyone's profile here at a-m-v.org has a top ten list. Trying looking through people's top ten choices and if you see a few that tend to repeat then look it up. Good luck.
