again, time to break out the clue by four...

anyone who has not been living under a rock should have seen the announcements on ANN, aodvd, and every other news site that the "new" eva production is really nothing new at all. What GAINAX is doing is digitally repainting the old films, getting rid of the scene-start jitter, and remixing the audio to 5.1 for a DVD release. The new version will be airing on Japanese Satellite later this year in order to help promote DVD sales. A preview has been included in the March issue of Newtype (Japanese edition).

No, ADV has not announced that they are licensing the new masters, and it is doubtful that they will.

The kabala is an ancient mystical hebrew book who's text was scattered during the inquisition and all that bullshit that went on in the mid ages. It mostly is based on the Eastern kabala, except like.. what the jews did was take everything from the mystical eastern beliefs and turn it into sexual and phallic references :\
but its still a good book, and shows the real mystical roots of the dogmas and beliefs in judaism, which failed to transfer over to later christianity (as in, after jesus' apostles died), and thus were pretty much lost to the west.

But yes, mostly all of the references besides the crosses (or maybe not, crosses traditionally stand for the material world and the fall of man into the material, that is, before the s-m-r-t christians decided to take christ's cross which was shaped like a capitol T, and turn it into the + which as I said mystically represents the material) were from the kabala

Okay... Sorry about the Kabbalah=religion reference. I wasn't exactly sure whether it was theology or religion. And thanks for that link to the Lilith site. I've really wanted to read up on some of this stuff... I hate to sound like a sell out, but Evangelion messes with your head and pricked my curiousity.

I really hope Gainax doesn't do a prequel to Evangelion. It doesn't need one... the TV series is a complete show that gets its message across with great power.

The movie only detracted from that. A new EVA sereis will further detract.

The surface story takes all of its religious references from the Khaballa, but the main storyline is more routed in psychology and philosophy.

Actually, that's only half true. She is a clone made up from Yui AND Lillith.

2) EVA Units 00, 01 and 02 are designed to look like the Children of Lillith.

(The first of Lillith's children was born as a cyclops, the sendon with a great horn on its head and the third had four eyes.)

3) The Evas fight angels.

(Well... Lillith is the mother of all demons and what else would demons be fighting?)

4) The mark on Lillith's head is the Khaballic symbol for Lillith.

That's most of what I have learned about Lillith and how her legend in the Khaballa was translated to the Evangelion series.

Also...

Lillith was rejected as Adam's bride because she was too self-centered and strong willed (which just goes to show how male-centric the old religious texts were). After she was removed from Eden, Eve was made FROM Adam and was more subservient and docile.

Lillith - 2nd Bride of Adam - Strong willed and self-centered
Asuka - 2nd Child - Strong willed and self-centered

Eve - 3rd Bride of Adam - Docile and subservient.
Shinji - 3rd Child - Docile and subservient.

So... a bunch of people are in an EVA topic and while on that thread, they are discussing Eva... and then this 'tard comes along and spouts out how much they hate EVA. What would be the purpose for this? Well... let's analyze the comment...

First, they make a sad attempt at humor... but it fails, because it is the kinds of comments we have seen over and over in other forums and so it lacks any kind of originality.

THen we have the argument. The writer says "EVA sucks." This is not backed up by any reasoning whatsoever. It is just the sort of thing some flamer wants to post to provoke. It shows the infintile brain behind the writing and is a useless comment. Just as useless as the writer, I'm sure.

Then we have the "Get over it." comment. Well... there really wasn't much posted for us to "get over".

In conclusion, I feel that the poster of this comment is an empty-headed flamer with delusions of adequacy who hopes to find validation in his/her sad and useless life with hostile posts on boards where the very topic flamed is the topic of discussion. The poster certainly can't believe that such a post will actually win over the hearts and minds of those in the forum and therefore, it is just a desperate plea for attention.

I think it's sad that such people are out there and perhaps we should take a moment to mourn how sad the lives of such posters as NME.

NME makes me realize how much better my life is compared to his/hers and that makes my day a little brighter.

I always thought Lilith was his first wife... that would make Rei Lilith and Asuka fashioned as Adams second wife... But the site link given above states that there is doubt as to whether or not Lilith is even CONNECTED to this myth of Adams first wife... It's just been generally accepted as the legend that Lilith was Adam's first... ARGH! So much obscurity when it comes to ancient theology and legends. *shakes head*
