I agree with siny on Nodame Cantabile. It may not be so romantic sometimes but it's one of my favourite shows and it just YOU MUST WATCH IT NOW

I remember when I started watching anime and I watched only and only romance shows I was totally in love with Vampire Knight. But, seriously, I don't know if I would like it if I watched it now.

As well as "The Place Promised In Our Early Days". Makoto Shinkai always cuts out your heart with a butter knife...butters it up...then throws it in a blender.

"Toradora" is also cute. It's not stuffed with complicated love triangles, but there are triangles. The heroine is iconic.

If you want a tear-jerker, although not being a dedicated "Romance" anime, I would recommend "Katanagatari". That couple cracks me up, too.

I've watched all of these except The Place Promised in our Early Days. And I agree, Katanagatari was a really sad anime ;__;

OH GOD, I just realized School Days is the really bloody anime that I heard was terrible. I always get that and School Rumble mixed up.

hehe, it's not that bad and there's some good romance in it, but as the time will flow you'll start hating the main character. That's all. I still would recommend watching it, tho.

all these animes i'll be naming will contain romance as the main plot, some will be lighthearted, others will be dark but all these anime i've ENJOYED but yet to see on your (entire/full) list so hope you check them out! All of these are good+ in my opinion
Acchi Kocchi (a lighthearted comedy anime that you shouldn't miss)
Amagami SS (concept is similar to TWGOK)
Bungaku Shoujo: Memoire (the OVAs, watch them if you loved the movie)
Da Capo (it has a bunch of seasons, but it's pretty similar to Kanon, yet different)
Futakoi (twins )
Kimi no Iru Machi (Short OVA series, but nicely adapted from it's popular ongoing romance manga)
Kimikiss Pure Rouge
Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate (all is good if you ignore that exaggerated censor)
Kowarekake no Orgel (not actually romance, but is another form of love.. the story is beautiful)
Mai-HiME (Amazing anime, nothing else to say.)
Mayo Chiki!
Myself ; Yourself (alot of drama but great)
Nagareboshi Lens (short OVAs, again it's something you can't forget after watching)
Omamori Himari
Shuffle!

One Pound Gospel
Marmalade Boy
Kareshi Kanojo no Jijyou

And if you're not hung up on heterosexual romance, I suggest Aoi Hana but warn you it largely focuses on the negative aspects of romantic relationships until the very end (the situation is much more upbeat in the continuing manga, but Aoi Hana does not have a second seas).

There're probably others I can think of, but I might need to go digging...
