then there is a little thing I call plot holes, and the fact that its an anime focused around fighting. After the frieza saga you can count the number of fights that werent interupted by 15 minutes of talking on one finger. Then there is the fact that after the frieza saga the fights looked retarded. I mean, shadow skills, Vincent and spike at the end of KOHD, THOSE are good fights. DBZ bt comparison is sub-par at least.

Dragon Ball Z...Dragon Balls to kiddish and I havn't heard anything about GT..but Dragon Ball(s) sucks any ways.
It has no plot except for taking a fricken boxset for one fight.
And the animation bugs the heck out of me... even Akira looks better then Dragon Ball!
I though the first couple episodes where good but it sticks with the same sayain plot throughout the entire 100+ episode series!

i gotta agree with firestorm, but most people don't like dragonball z because hey just don't get it, not to mention the fact that funimation is amde up of ass monkeys who are trigger happy with editing sicors. yes there are alot of problems with dbz but if your not really fucking anal, you can enjoy it for what it is, a decent anime with good fight scenes.

I got to agree with that. I love the whole Dragon Ball universe. I don't really care what other people make of the series because they will not make me stop watching DB/Z/GT.Gatsthedarksword wrote:i gotta agree with firestorm, but most people don't like dragonball z because hey just don't get it, not to mention the fact that funimation is amde up of ass monkeys who are trigger happy with editing sicors. yes there are alot of problems with dbz but if your not really fucking anal, you can enjoy it for what it is, a decent anime with good fight scenes.

About the energy(reason) is probably one of the biggest reason's for DBZ/GT being so famous(at least fo the japanese) but I will have to talk to one of my friends more about it since it was about a month or so ago I last talk to him about it, if anyone knows of a website where it talks about DBZ or any Anime dealing with spiritual beliefs please post it so that I may dig up more about that main reason or many of you who wish to know of this will probably have to wait until i get more details from my friend..
For an example of a website dealing with something about beliefs and Anime try looking at this website...

Yes, a multi-lots-of-big-numbers dollar (yen? heh) *theatrical production* is going to look a little better than a weekly TV series...Princess Garnet wrote:And the animation bugs the heck out of me... even Akira looks better then Dragon Ball!
You're right. Ever seen EVA? Escaflowne? Sailor Moon? They've all got plot holes, too. DB just happens to be SIGNIFICANTLY longer than any of these, which leaves it prone to more plot holes.CaTaClYsM wrote:then there is a little thing I call plot holes
As for the topic at hand... as nailz brought up, to say "DragonBall" has no plot is one of the most ill-informed comments to be said. Simply *looking* at the story (one which spanned a full decade) will reveal so many twists and turns in the plot that sometimes I wonder why some of the new-school anime can't take a hint and really look at the story rather than eye-candy, alone.
That the show repeats the same kind of formula throughout the years... well, yes. Same can be said for any show. "Sailor Moon" always fights a "villain of the day." Pokemon always has a run-in with Team Rocket somewhere. Shinji's always fighting some kind of angel. Dilandau's mad at Van and wants to kill him. D's got a gripe with vampires and will slay them.
Looking underneath this, though, at the relations between characters that grows over the years (etc, etc, etc), you find a much more revealing plotline that spur many more emotions that one would initially think. This occurs in "DragonBall" and the vast majority of other series.
Yes, it's due to the fans that DB has been given an even worse 'rep. It's popular. It's marketed. It's dubbed. It's everywhere. Fans (specifically, otaku) tend to think they're "cooler" or "more otaku" by simply disliking what's popular. This accounts for a good portion of the haters. Another portion of the haters just haven't given it a chance. And some people genuinely dislike it; there's nothing wrong with this... providing they've given it a chance. I've given FLCL a chance. I can't get into it. I don't like it, but at the same time, despite it having such an immensely positive response, I don't go around promoting my own dislike for it.
People also have to realize, despite what rabid otaku (specifically, the newer DB otaku) will have you think... DB never was, isn't, and never will be, a "grown up" show. It was originally created for kids. It was originally marketed at kids.
It's a kid's show.
If you don't want to watch a kid's show, don't watch DragonBall. If you can accept a kid's show for what it is, and maybe look at what was surprisingly thrown in between the lines... you've got a gem on your hands.
Both the manga and the TV series were long-running productions that many a person grew up to and with. You don't just grow up watching the show... you grow up with Gokuu, with Gohan, etc. Characters grow into adult hood, have children, die (and come back... and die again... and come back again... ^_~).
It's a fun show, and that's all that matters in the end.
Thus ends the current ramblings of a half-defunct-promises-to-return DB website maintainer.

reasons:Why is Dragon Ball/Z/GT one of the most hated anime's there is when it is most certainly one of the best there ever was... and ever will be??? I want to know why people hate DB/Z/GT so much and not just "becuase I do..!!" although I know some is going to do the exact oposite and post that becuase for some "Unkown Reason" people tend to lack common sense and feel their "Outrageous, Stupid and Dumb" replies even matter when I'm am most serious about this topic I figure that the reason's why DBZ is one of the most liked is becuase it was one of the first that started in the 1980's(I might be mistaken though, Please prove me worng , If.. I.. Even.. Am.. and please do prove it and not just same I wrong)
few interesting characters (my opinion)
dragged on fights/situations
recycled plot
not enough character developement for my taste
fight scenes poorly animated and choreographed
that is why i personally do not watch the show, i have no reason to hate it. The only time i may feel a strong dislike toward it is when i listen to fanboys rant about it. I guess its just that after watching anime for a while, its annoying when someone declares a show like dbz to be the 'best' when they have barely seen any anime. On a side note, don't get me wrong, I'm refering to a very specific type of DBZ fan, not all DBZ fans
sorry for any spelling/grammar...I'm tired and typing fast
