Well, I'll first qualify the statement I'm about to make with this admonition: like any sane individual, overall quality (and hence enjoyment) is of course the primary consideration, superceding genre preferences. Else Miyazaki would have never gotten a dime from me. ;)

That said, were my anime collection more substantial than it currently is, I could say with certainty that the majority of titles would share qualities of the 'Action' genre. Why? Hard to answer. The best I can come up with is that talented writers and studios take the medium and make it just ooze tangible style. I love that.

i like almost any genre ... well exclude hentai, it's extremely annoying, much like live action porn. They both have the same weak points and lack of strong ones.

meh, i like a lot of shit.

I like anime from different genre. I am a big fan of martial arts anime (Fist of the North Star, Baki the Grappler), anything with samurai (Ruroni Kenshin), some supernatural stuff (Yu Yu Hakusho, Vampire Hunter D), some robot stuff (Kikaider, New Adventures of Gigantor), and Lupin III.

I like action, romance in small doses is fine.

Fav animes are Trigun and Cowboy Bebop

Romance is fine, as long its not twenty episodes of chibit characters wacking one another and then getting serious the last five -ahem- Love Hina -ahem- Maybe that's why I liked Ai Yori Aoshi. Oh My Goddess is fine also.

Philiosophical works are fine also: Eva, Gundam Wing, Lain

Abt the only genre I get slightly irritated from is mecha, it always show in some form or another a bleak future(check out my forum abt depressing ainme genres)

Hmm, my top 10 anime has evolved since I joined the org.

I found that I was growing "selfish" with the anime I'm watching. [it's not you, it's me :p]

I LUVED the big funny popular anime way back when. Tenchi was my #1, then Dual, then Nadesico, and now, Onegai Teacher. [it's been #1 now for who-knows how long?]

If it's rare and sweet, I'll like it.

Fanservice? Must be tasteful, not tasteless, though humor fanservice is the shit. Story? Oh yeah, serious and dramatic is fine too, but it CAN'T be so serious that I fall apart. Best example. AI YORI AOSHI!!! It's got for me the most perfect blend of comedy and drama EVAR! No anime as of yet can combine drop dead comedy with tear jerker drama. Someone show me one ok?

If it's romance? I'm all for it. Senseless violence? Bah, that's DBZ. Real Bout High School was fanservice violence, THAT I can take ^_^

To be as bloody specific as possible, Romantic comedy's that are mature. [nosebleeds and stupid shit like that, that's out the window]

How many more nosebleeding idiots do we need...
"Strength lies in action. Let the weak react to me..." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter from Magic: the Gathering
"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)
"I AM REBORN!" - Dark Schneider Bastard!! OAV

Well....with anime, like with life, I'll try almost anything once, but still, I've found more often than not I get drawn to the mecha animes
Such series as:
Mobile Suit Gundam (and it's spinoffs)
Aura Battler Dunbine
Orguss 02
Gunbuster
Macross (been slowly tracking down the original series...none of that infernal Robotech stuff)
Neon Genesis Evangelion (OK...this one's debatable as mecha status goes)
Full Metal Panic!
Overman King Gainer
and
Getter Robo

I guess you could say I'm a fence sitter. I don't like my anime too dark but then I don't like the absolutely absurd stuff either (plot is a good thing)

Generally I like action /adventure preferably with super (or nearly super) human characters. Stuff like Blue Seed, Slayers, Kenshin, Inuyasha, Generator Gawl, and Guyver
Sometimes I go to my own little world - but that's ok, they know me there.
