i dont mind some of the dubs that funimation has done. i really love the YYH dub. but ill probably stay away from FB. DB series is good. original. DBZ is all right. the voices are good its just that damn music. DBGT is iffy. L3rd is awesome! i love both Funi and Pioneer's versions. but i think Funi would of released the series faster then Pioneer. Pioneer is slow on L3rd. i think Bandai should of released DBZ. it would gone better plus original score. all of the movies would of been released by now. so FB is really that awful?? good thing its only 26 eps.

Ah yes, Fruits Basket.

A good dub, or so it seems... but on the technical side, it kinda sucks.. .ok, it really sucks. I won't go into details, but the biggest thing is that (And I kid you not) you can hear the director talking sometimes. Watch the dub while wearing headphones. It's very audible.

Sloppy cuts, director babble.. just a bad dub job.

But don't blame Funimation so much. Distribution companies don't do the dub, they just contract out a studio to do it, and cast the actors. It's up to the studio and director to make it good.

Sadly, a lot of studios/directors in america suck ass.

So yeah, even if Pioneer had done it, we still could have ended up with a shitty dub. It's a moot point who's releasing it.

It's a 26 episode series.

*facefaults*

You DO realize... that there's two sets of subtitles, right? There's a set that's "closed captioning" for the English track... and there's a set of translated dialogue for the Japanese audio track... ?

At least, that's how EVERY FUNimation disc is... I've got the disc in question, but it's a home (and I'm at work), so I can't double-check it...

But Steve Simmons did indeed do the translations for the Japanese audio track, and I remember it being insanely detailed and accurate... as is everything he does.

I find it amusing that peoples' opinions on it, solely because it's FUNimation, can't be as unbiased as an actual review...

I don't have a Fruits Basket dvd, but I believe VegettoEX is right since I noticed the same thing on the Blue Gender dvds.

If you select Japanese dialog with subtitles from the dvd menu, you should get what you want. If, however, you turn on the subs using your remote (PS2 controller) and select English subs, you get subs of the English dialog. Instead, you'll need to hit the subtitle button again to select Japanese subs which are actually English subs of the Japanese dialog.

id also like to mention that some times when watching the dvds on ps2 anime in general they play the japanese eps instead of english so you have to got o menu and select english. it does this to me when ever i want to watch Cowboy Bebop, Trigun and Cowboy Bebop the movie. but it doesnt do it on my YYH dvds or DBZ dvds. ??????? no this has nothing to do with the topic. just some thing id like to comment on.

Ive said it before, and ill say it again...

Once VegettoEX starts defending Funimation....YOU GOT NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. Trust me, this is the last guy id expect to take their side, so theyve clearly made some progress. Give them some credit.
