Well, it's not bad to copy something, I mean, if you overdo the whole copying thing then it gets really annoying. To me, it is a good thing that Americans are trying to make an American anime. It shows that anime is developing. My friend agrees but she also said, "It just shows how unoriginal we are."
It actually doesn't matter to me unless they portray anime as something bad but they are not so I think that it is pretty much ok for them to copy it.

It's called "English." Written in the Roman alphabet. And maybe with some Arabic numerals.MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:...Second whenever you see text on signs and such, many of them have both Japanese and American on them...
Stop thinking you invented everything. It makes people hate you.
And Teen Titans will only impress me if it ends up with strong continuity. That's a thing I really like about anime. Reboot had strong continuty later on. I liked that.

I don't mean to be rude or anything but isn't that a little harsh?Fronzel wrote:Stop thinking you invented everything. It makes people hate you.

I liked it. It is easy to tell its done by the same animators who do Batman and Superman for Warner Studios. It feels like Justice league but I felt there are alot of what I would call trademark anime actions like facial expressions, expressions for embarrasement and such that show an anime influence. The eyes on some of the characters(Starfire and Raven) I think also show an anime inflience.
The show has much potential and has a good comedy element as well as action. I think Raven will be the standout character. I like Starfire but feel she wont be that popular since she is the nice and polite one.

To me, I didn't really like the Justice League. It is just too.........I just don't like the American super hero thing. I like other American shows but I just don't really like the Justice League. I know that Teen Titans is pretty much the idea of chibi Justice League people but it is different so that is why I THINK that I might like it.
Yup, I do agree that many might not like Starfire as their fav character because of the whole nice and polite thing but it has been that way for the major majority.

American Anime has been around for a while. This is just the most obvious example.UnfortunateDreamer wrote:Well, it's not bad to copy something, I mean, if you overdo the whole copying thing then it gets really annoying. Batman Beyond has been called American Anime
And America created anime first. The first Disney cartoons are what inspired the first anime artists to make anime. So if anything, the Japanese copied us and we are finally taking back what's ours. Further more, Japanese SUCK at making story lines. 90% of animes I have seen have had very cliche story lines and plot developements. At leats we Americans try and be original (compare Mangas and American Comics. Our comis, by plot, generally rip them apart).

Ok, the bit about anime I'll mildly agree with. What the Japanese DID with animation, though, was take technique and style to heights that America is still trying to catch up to.HungryCrackPot wrote:American Anime has been around for a while. But the comic argument? Are you reading the same stuff I am? American comics are FAR more clichéd than manga. At least manga has a wide variety of storylines. American comics consist mostly of superhero(ine)s, and those stories are cloned from each other almost as bad as American soap operas. We don't try to be original at all. We stick with the same crap we've been doing for the last 80 years because we know it'll keep selling.

What other country could make a cartoon centering around a retarded talking sponge, and it's adventures under the sea?
If it were Japanese, you would see blood shooting out of his nose when he says he's ready, Squidward hitting him in the face with a mallet whenever he's angry, and Gary would have a giant sword. Oh, and Patrick would have machine guns.
