Inuyasha movies

The first Inu Yasha movie, seemed to me, to be targetting people who didn't watch the TV show in an attempt to hook more watchers. There's nothing new in it, and anyone familiar with the series is going to have fun trying to place at what point, exactly, the whole movie is set... As far as adding to the series.... well... the only thing to "discover" here is that Inu Yasha and Kagome can combine their powers (sword+arrow) to a level that allows them to destroy godlike demons who are, purportedly, the most powerful in all the land. Huhhh??? Come on... you knew it was coming, but I wish they'd found a better way to have the guy defeated that didn't bank on some kind of super-super-super power...
Did anyone else find the animation (characters) of lower-quality/noticeably different than the TV show? I didn't like the way Kagome turned out, and even Inu Yasha is a bit different.
