I think that Ah! My goddess is a Happy Sad series, u dont want it to end and want to see wat happens forever ... u wanna make the series last longer because u see that they love each other soooo much and wont let things get into their way...

Full Moon wo Sagashite is perhaps the saddest anime I have seen. But it is also definately one of the happiest, most joyous anime I have seen.

Ahem... THE MANGA IS MUCH BETTER!

Seriously though... it's beautiful, has much more substance and less pink sugar, and doesn't contain as much filler. There were a lot more connections between the main characters. When I watched the episode about Grandma's past, I just about lost all my respect for the anime. The final episode gained some respect back, but it still couldn't measure up to the manga.

Sooo... if you have the chance... check out the manga! It hasn't been licensed, so scanslations are available online. =))

Let's see. I'll say Voices of a Distant Star and Kanon.

Angelic Layer got REALLY gut wrenchingly sad in the second to last episode, but then luckily it turned around in the end and became happy. ^_^

Kiddy Grade also had some REALLY sad points:
Like when Wirblewind and Donner were destroyed.

I could include Fushigi Yuugi to a certain extent especially when
Nuriko got killed and a few other Suzaku members.
