Trigun is an awesome show. Think I told this story like twenty times throughout the net and in person. About a year ago, around Christmas, I got into a fight with my hangout group, girl problems...long story short, I ended up standing alone. Anyhow, I have a friend in my church who use to be an anime freak and then stopped collecting DVDs. I thought, hey, maybe this is a good time to start watching anime...and make it a full time profession, partly to drown out my troubles, partly because I have been meaning to for awhile and never got around to getting myself a few acclaimed titles.
My sis is friends with a lot of anime freaks and they all loved Trigun. My sis checked that out first while I went for Cowboy Bebop. We ended up taking turns using the DVD player at one hour increments. Sure enough, my sis is cracking up and I decided that maybe I should be a little more insane and watch both CB and Trigun at once! I soon became captivated by Trigun and that worked out because I finished CB about a day later.
I remember the anime rolling along, I get my laughs and my crack ups up until ep 17. I gotta say, for that ep, I was like, who is knives? Did Vash go back in time or something? I registered like ten seconds later, HOLY CRAP! I rewinded and watch the ep, this time aware that this is Vash's childhood we're talking about here!
I too hated Knives for a while, but then I loved it when he offed Steve. I hate the sucker's guts SOOO much. I know its wrong, but I can understand his standpoint on why he hates humans so much. Funny how the one guy who doesn't discriminate people is the guy who hates all of them equally! And of course, I loved the line when he sent Chapel to the void: "Good for nothing, resource consuming garbage.(eyes squint)"
My only complaints abt the show are the visual quality and they had one too many filler episodes.

The third stage of the illness: muscle aches and persistent cough.
The final stage of the illness: delirium, convulsions, and death." -Phyrexian progress notes
