The AMG OVAs were made back in 1993, early in the manga's run, so there wasn't much source material to work from. The movie, made seven years later, in 2000, was also made about a year into the future of the manga's story timeline, so it doesn't draw on manga source, but extends the story instead.
There's also the 48-episode (7 minute episodes) series Chibi Goddesses made in 1998, that are based on 4-panel strips that are sidestories to the manga.
About the time the movie was released, I read in an interview that Fujishima saves his best stories to be animated, so I wouldn't rule out seeing another animated AMG series or movie sometime soon.

Oh hey thats great to hear that it not totally voided that there wont be anymore AMG ... wat about the minigoddess series ... i think thats part of it too ... they should recreate the series to make it longer and add stuff from the manga to it ... that would be sooo cool.JHU Battousai wrote:The AMG OVAs were made back in 1993, early in the manga's run, so there wasn't much source material to work from. I know, I have always been surprised that Oh! My Goddess never made it to a TV series in Japan. Considering how popular Belldandy is, they have never tried to do a TV series with it. But then again, Oh! My Goddess is a good little series that goes at a good steady pace. A 26 episode series could kill it. Just look a Love Hina for example. It wasn't so bad a first, but because they had committed themselves to a 24 episode series, I felt that it went on way too long. And that is why I don't like it all that much. Love Hina would have been a good 13 episode series, but as a 24 episode series, it ran out of ideas and got stale by the end.

For AMG ... they could have gone on for a while ... mayb like 13 eps. at least if they follow the manga ... but on to Love Hina ... yeah there were fillers but i think that over all it was a great series ... very touching just like AMG ... well AMG was more touching and gave a better ending in the movie, where as Love Hina didnt give me a good ending until i read the manga and then i was fully content.... over all both series are great if u like the romantic type anime and a little bit of comedy mixed in there... i highly recommend them .... 8)Rurouni Wolfpac wrote:I know, I have always been surprised that Oh!
