Are EVA's Really "Mecha"?

well, the mechs that would be able to defeat the evas must excell in mobility and in close range combat because the evans can get in close range in a heatbeat. many mechaincal things cannot react fast enough to match the evas speed and manuverablity. Hence why I chose jehuty. for those who have played the game "zone of the enders" you know what I mean by speed and reaction time.
on the topic of transformers though. The some of the original transformers were actually transforming robots from other series in japan, one of them, the original jetfire I believe was the robotech valkrie. Yet another meh that could maybe contend with the evas. narrowly, but possibly depending on the efectiveness of the micro missles.

well granted that EVA doesnt look that impressive than being huge, but give them some credit. MEchas are suppose to be humanoid looking things with machinary inside them. EVAs are like that. But they are design to be something else in the series. TThe other mechs in Gundam or Full Metal Panic are just weapons used to fight battles. But like Escaflowne, that kind of mech is essential to the story, because it effects the plot. Most Mech fans just think of Mechs as cool weapons of war, and think on the cosmetics of them instead of the technical stuff involved in making them. Evangelions are no different that Mobile Suits, Gundams, Arm Slaves, Orbital Frames, or Guymelefs.

except that the evas arnt fully technical, in fact, not to be spoiler or anything, but the evas are mostly organic.

Sure, given the fact that they are living creatures, but they are also half cyborgs, the pilots control them to an extent, but i still believe that they are infact still mechs.
And if u think about ZOE and Orbital Frames, not to be a spiloer of that, but the materials used to make those things are actaully alive themselves, and the pilot main character bonds with the energy of the unit.

--SPOILERS AHEAD... duh--
plus, berserker can potentially go on forever, we don't really see the berserker (after the time limit has ended) stop until it's target is completely destroyed, in berserker, EVA is basically alive and awake and should be able to function forever.. unless it wants to sleep occasionally
i'm not well versed in the mech world, so i'm guessing a lot of the mechs mentioned probably could rock an eva or two
especially the one from Zone of the Enders, i've played the Second Runner Game and those things are awesome
it's the barrier that encloses it's mind?! ...whoa...Heero_Yuy84 wrote:The Billbine would also be capable of generating an AT field (the Aura Barrier being, in all respects, the same thing)
meh, if you give berserker options, eva unit 01's maneuverability goes pretty high, remember, it's humanoid, so the pilot's movements aren't limited in any way (cept flying of course... which we can't do)Heero_Yuy84 wrote:Also the advantage of a much longer time limit (even with berserker options, I'd still place money on Billbine's maneuverability)
That's just my take on it though

OK, I'll concede the Aura Barrier doesn't get as technical...however, for the purposes of this match-up, they are indeed similar (a field projected by the pilots soul used as a shield)Daio Kaji wrote:--SPOILERS AHEAD... duh--

As for the berserker factor...again, I marked unless one counts the berserker factor, but even then, Billbine has the potential for outmaneuvering (it is capable of flight, actually fairing much better in the air than on the ground)
Granted in the long run it's still tough to tell, as both systems, as we see them, get a little deus ex machina from the writers...hence why I said it wasn't definite, but it does have a good chance
